We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful JoAnn Little. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with JoAnn below.
JoAnn, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
When I went through my own divorce in 2006 I found out how broken and stressful it was to navigate through the process of divorce. The attorney costs, the conflict, the alienation of the children and the lack of understanding and communication within the process. I learned about a model called “collaborative divorce” and became certified as a Collaborative Divorce Financial Professional. I wanted to create a better way to divorce that helped to educate and empower the couples instead of breaking down the relationship even further. I eventually left Corporate America where I was overseeing large financial services programs for companies like Allstate Financial, Citibank, Wells Fargo Bank and North Island Federal credit union as a VP and sales manager . In 2009 I began working for a variety of mediation firms and then opened my own firm in 2013. My firm, Divorce Help, is designed to provide all the necessary court tasks, paperwork, agreements and professional time needed in the state of CA for a couple to divorce within a modified flat fee low-cost model. We all work together and all my professional are neutrals with the goal of providing the expertise and information needed for the couple to make the best decisions for their families in a collaborative manner. (www.divorcehelpfamilylaw.com). My goal is to minimize conflict, protect the family, the assets and the integrity of the parties as well as empower and educate them as they go through the process. I also provide through my non-profit, Second Saturday San Diego (www.secondsaturdaysandiego.org) the opportunity for 2 plus hours of information on the process of divorce from a Family Law Attorney, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst and other professionals integral to the process of divorce. individuals can ask their own questions to the team.

JoAnn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My background is in the financial services industry working as a planner, sales manager and program manager. I have over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry and have been dedicated to the financial division of assets, debts and income in the divorce process over 13 years now. We work as neutrals helping the family. We educate our clients so they can make the best decisions possible in a divorce situation. We offer expertise and guidance. We work in divorce mediation with the couple and also work with those who may have engaged an attorney to better help them understand the process and the financial division of assets and debts. We also have expertise on board when it comes to child custody. (www.divorcehelpfamilylaw.com)
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
There is no better accolade than to have walked in someone’s shoes. I have been through a divorce with minor children and experienced many of the same challenges that my clients are going through. I am a very organized and structured individual who knows her stuff. I enjoy people and want to help. I believe I have a talent for communicating and relating to people and helping direct them correctly. I am very compassionate and also know when to redirect and get folks on the right track if they begin to steer off. I often liken my firm to a professional hiking guide. “If you start to go down the wrong trail we will bring you back, we have the tools to navigate you to the top of the mountain and make the journey empowering.” I do an excellent job for my clients at an excellent price and word gets around.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
