Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joan Wozniak . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Joan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with inspirations and heroes. Are there any historical figures you look up to?
My three favorite designers are Coco Chanel, Rosita Missoni and Diane Von Furstenberg. Everyone knows Coco Chanel and her passion for bringing “only men” pieces into collections for women. Modern women’s fashion trends also include pieces inspired from men’s collections, like a boyfriend’s blazer and an oversized white shirt. We usually style them with feminine accessories and shoes. Thanks to Chanel, we enjoy the color black in everyday styling and the little black dresses that we can find in every wardrobe. Rosita Missoni introduced the famous and unique zigzag and wave design that, in combination with beautiful colors, made her collections an art exhibition. Diane Von Furstenberg’s famous “wrap dresses” combine comfort, beauty and feminine style. We can wear them during the day and night and always make our bodies look perfect.
Joan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I love designing and making dresses and I love styling. We have infinite possibilities for how to combine pieces of our wardrobes into looks that make us feel and look the way we want. This is our unique style, the message that we send to the world who we are. Styling and designing is my passion.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
As a creative person, I’m always looking for new solutions. If I can not find the piece that I have in mind, I can make it. I can create new styles and color combinations. I can turn my imagination into a real life product that I or others can wear and enjoy.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
For me, it is really amazing to create and have something unique, because it is the only piece in the world. I think this is something that non-creatives can not understand.
