We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jo Peters a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jo thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
I worked for 15 years in corporate America for Fortune 100 companies like Good Year and PepsiCo, before I started my business in 2019. In my corporate roles, my job was all about cultural change, ownership, and empowerment of all levels of the organization, from the front line to executives.
After coaching over 15000 people in 4 continents and 25 countries there is ONE common denominator, the best fuel to grow and create amazing things is appreciation. Showing people we value and appreciate them.
One of my mentors says: “If you make people visible, they will make you valuable.” how do you make people visible? showing them you appreciate them.
As a business owner, I always appreciate my customers, as I am aware they have thousands if not millions of other options, and they still choose to work with me.
In a society where connection moved from personal to virtual, and where we all are so busy that some days we barely function, feeling someone else think about you is an amazing feeling!
The new era of business is based on relationships, and relationships are built on trust and connection, those two start with appreciation.
Here are my favorite ways to show appreciation:
*Send Christmas/Holiday cards to my 1:1 clients
*Send Birthday Gifts a little details that say I remember it your birthday goes a long way
*Recognize them and their progress personally and publicly
*Randomly reach out and ask them how they are doing
Jo, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Jo is an experienced and passionate leader, speaker, coach, transformational trainer, mom, wife, and friend. Not to mention a Bestselling author of two books in 7 countries. She enjoys helping woman to discover how to have it all without doing it all.
Finding the best version of themselves understanding that its never about the money, the food, the kids or the husband, instead is always about them and the inner work they need to do to be able to live the life of their dreams (That they totally deserve to live).
Jo has over 17 years of experience working with Fortune 100 companies like Goodyear & PepsiCo, and the leading personal development companies like Mindvalley. She has coached and trained over 15,000 people on 4 continents and in more than 25 countries.
Jo has spoken in multiple universities both in the US and internationally and is frequently a podcast guest where she shares her knowledge and experience in a broader way. She is also the host of a TV Show MOMFIT with Jo Peters, that reaches over 1 MM views every week.
Jo is fighting against the BS system that confirms the belief that we are not enough as we already are. She believes that women are worthy and can have it all, no need for compromise. She does this by creating community and group programs that leave women empowered, confident and free to live unapologetically.
Jo offers group and 1:1 coaching in addition to digital programs to help overwhelmed and frustrated women escape the trap of procrastination & perfectionism. She help them design a support system for a healthy body, financial freedom, and thriving relationships based on their unique archetype traits.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I am known worldwide as the Unicorn Coach. With a reputation as a caring, loving, and highly effective coach. My clients know they will get with me a 3 in 1 bundle: I am their Coach, their Accountability Partner and their Cheerleader.
What it helped to do was show up in a consistent basis, with my values clear, and use them to guide me in every interaction. Having a servant leadership approach and truly believing their wins are my wins, allow me to fully commit and be invested in our journey and find ways to support my clients and community
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Growing Up I learned that I had to work hard to achieve my goals and get rewards, which very quickly transformed into me becoming a perfectionist. And believing I have to aim for perfection in everything I do.
After years of pain, and exposure to narcissist relationships (Perfeccionsits are the easiest pray for narcissists) I started the path to unlearn those lessons and heal the root cause of the belief.
Unlearning that lesson it’s being a journey and a process, but reinforces my believe that we need to do the inner work and the deep work first to grow and scale our businesses.
