Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to JNicole . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
JNicole , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name of my brand is so special to me. Once I got serious about my life my main focus and goal became all about leaving behind a foundation for my children. Having my oldest child was the beginning of why my life begin to change. When so named her I gave her my middle name as her middle name, which is Nicole. When I begin to conjure up a name I took her first initial which is J and combined it with our middle name. In a way it was a reminder of why I was doing it all. A reminder of who I was doing this for and why. It slowly became the center of where majority of my energy and focus were being directed. Over time as she grew olde to understand she eventually begin to take pride in the fact that it was named after her. Now that she older she helps out with the business so much. She’s my assistant now she helps with product production as well as assisting me with clients. They even help spread the word by passing out business cards whether they go. We both enjoy what I created for us. We do all that we can to make sure it stay alive and thrive..

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always done hair since a child. I started working for a fellow stylist in the city. One of my good friends, was a trailblazer for me to look amongst, call if I ever needed help or guidance. She was dope. i also worked as an assistant for a stylist who was so bomb. She was where I learned majority of my information about professional care, do’s and dont’s. I will forever be grateful for the energy. After some time I decided that I would like to step out on my own. I was so nervous because I was in a field that required me to be social and I was not too much of a social person at the time. I took the leap anyway. I begin to put my name out there and clients started to come in. I was happy I felt excited proud. I believe my humility sets me apart from others. My ability to allow my client to just be in that moment in that space. To relax and really enjoy my services as a treat for themselves. I pride myself in professionalism, so I am always trying to make sure everything is right when servicing my clients. I do my best to stay within a timely matter. I make sure the conversation are always uplifting inspiring and thought provoking. I love for them to leave my chair feeling as if they’ve gained more than just a new hair do. I love to share wisdom and experiences with the hopes of maybe my story or their story was beneficial to share.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
For my my business has expanded because of word of mouth. To me this is the “old school” way. I first initially started my business by standing outside of the gas station handing out my cards. Everyday I would go to the gas station next to the salon and introduce myself with a card. Over the years when business has gotten slow, I’ve always took myself back to the basics. I don’t mind spending hours of my day putting in the leg work. It’s where I have the most fun. I’m out sharing my business meeting new people, with the thought of “I have a new client”. It’s thrilling in a way because I’m that moment I can literally see the growth of my business. The product of my work ethic.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me is actually getting out to spread the word. I meet so many people that way personally. I love meeting my clients in person first. Although they don’t know me, my approach and how I spoke to them will remain. My appearance and body language is what will drawn them in, my welcoming smile, as I introduce myself. My warm send off once I’ve completed the task.
