Alright, JJ thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
It was always a goal to get the point where “I could pay my bills by telling jokes.” At the end of 2019 I went full time in comedy. Probably the worst year of my professional career but I did it. All i did was set monthly goals of how much money i need for this month to be profitable. It involves alot of planning ahead and learning that No are very common.

Hey my name is JJ Curry. Im a stand up comedian in the Tampa area. I been doing stand up for 10 years now. In my career field the goals is to be as original possible. Im so proud that i been able to do this full time since 2019. It been times where i want to quit but im so happy inkept pushing. Im just happy i can travel now and put smiles on faces.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My entire first year of being a full time comic was basically 2020. From 2020 to until late 2021 i was pretty much “stuck” in Florida. At the time it was about vaccination and the whole pandemic disease that was going on. Im actually autoimmune compromised. It was a difficult time. I really thought i had to give up on my dreams, but i kept pushing and finally me and my doctors figure out a plan for me and thr rest was history.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The freedom! I never felt more like myself since i went full time in this. Yeah it have a lot of up and downs but, the overall freedom to express myself make all worth it.
