Hi Jinyun, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?

I learned to do what I do through a combination of formal education, hands-on experience, and a lot of self-driven exploration. I took design courses, practiced consistently, and sought out real-world projects that pushed me to grow. Every project became a learning opportunity, as I was constantly experimenting with new tools and refining my understanding of user experience and visual storytelling. Working on diverse projects and with cross-functional teams taught me invaluable lessons about collaboration and adaptability, skills that became central to my growth.
Looking back, one thing I could have done to speed up my learning process was to find a mentor earlier on—someone who could provide guidance, feedback, and insight into the industry. A mentor would have helped me avoid some of the trial-and-error mistakes I encountered and could have offered a faster route to mastering key skills. Additionally, dedicating more time to networking early on would have expanded my support system, giving me access to industry insights and potential collaborations.
The most essential skills have been adaptability, problem-solving, and effective communication. Adaptability allowed me to embrace new tools and approaches as the design field evolved. Problem-solving has been crucial in UX design, where understanding user needs and crafting solutions is the core of the work. Effective communication was key for translating my design ideas to clients and team members, building trust and ensuring alignment.
One of the main obstacles I faced was self-doubt, especially early in my design career. I used to questioned whether I was skilled enough, which sometimes made me hesitate to share my ideas or take on bigger challenges. However, as I gained more experience and received positive feedback from clients and team members, I gradually built my confidence. Overcoming this self-doubt was something I had to actively work through, but it ultimately pushed me to grow and improve. While the journey has been challenging, it’s also been incredibly rewarding, and each experience has shaped me into the designer I am today.

Jinyun, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m a product designer and visual artist with a passion for creating experiences that are both functional and emotionally resonant. My journey into the design industry was unconventional—I started in accounting, a structured and analytical field, but found my true calling in the creative world. The transition wasn’t easy, but my background in accounting gave me a unique perspective on design, instilling a sense of precision and discipline that I now carry into my work. Today, I specialize in UX and visual design, crafting products and digital experiences that prioritize user-centered design while pushing creative boundaries.
My work spans a wide range of mediums, including fashion design, installation, film, and interactive digital art. This diverse background allows me to bring a multidimensional approach to each project, blending elements of art, storytelling, and functionality. I’m deeply committed to accessibility and inclusivity in design, striving to create interfaces and visuals that not only look beautiful but also provide seamless and meaningful interactions for users of all backgrounds and abilities.
What sets me apart is my ability to bridge artistic vision with strategic problem-solving. I don’t just focus on aesthetics; I aim to understand the client’s goals and the user’s needs, ensuring that my designs are both visually engaging and highly functional. My goal is to help clients create products that resonate with their audience on a personal level, whether it’s through intuitive interfaces, immersive visuals, or storytelling elements that make the experience memorable.
My work is rooted in a genuine desire to create impactful and accessible experiences. I’m always evolving, learning, and seeking out new ways to push creative boundaries. Whether through digital products, visual art, or interactive spaces, my mission is to connect with people through design and create experiences that are not only beautiful but also meaningful and inclusive.

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?

NFTs represent a fascinating evolution in how we think about ownership, value, and art in the digital space. They have opened up new opportunities for artists and creators to share their work, build direct relationships with audiences, and monetize their digital creations in ways that weren’t previously possible. By allowing digital assets to be unique, verifiable, and tradable on blockchain platforms, NFTs give artists a new level of control and a chance to reach global audiences directly, which is particularly empowering for independent creators.
For me, NFTs are a tool with both potential and responsibility. As a designer and visual artist, I see them as an interesting way to reach new audiences, experiment with interactive and collectible digital art forms, and explore the evolving relationships between artists and collectors. I think the future of NFTs could be incredibly exciting as the space matures, particularly if we continue to prioritize ethical and sustainable practices. In the end, the most exciting aspect of NFTs is the potential to create new forms of art, storytelling, and community, and I’m interested in seeing how the technology can evolve to support those values.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is the ability to connect with people on a deeply personal level through my work. Art and design have a unique power to communicate emotions, stories, and ideas in a way that transcends words, and there’s something incredibly fulfilling about creating experiences that resonate with others. Whether it’s through a digital interface that makes a user’s life easier or an artwork that evokes a certain feeling, knowing that my work can make an impact, however small, is incredibly meaningful to me.
I also find great joy in the creative process itself—the freedom to explore, experiment, and push boundaries. Each project is an opportunity to learn something new, dive into different perspectives, and bring a vision to life in a way that feels authentic. That journey of discovery and self-expression, combined with the chance to inspire or connect with others, makes being an artist and creative immensely rewarding. It’s a constant cycle of growth, and with each piece or project, I feel like I’m contributing a little piece of myself to the world.
