We were lucky to catch up with Jin Patton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you ever had an amazing boss? What did you learn from them? Maybe you can share a story that illustrates the kind of boss they were or maybe you can share your thoughts on what you think made them an awesome person to work for?
Jessica was the best boss I ever had. Still to this day she continues to mentor me. She not only was a boss she became a friend to me. She taught me so much, from learning on how to do hair to how to be a better person. She’s a great example of who God created us to be and to extend grace to one another. She is so gracious and kind. When I first started working for her, I was so young. She continues to have a huge impact on my life and the woman I am today.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hey ya’ll! 👋🏼
I’m Jin, stylist and owner of Hair by Jin! I’m a 28 year old wife and dog mom. I’ve been behind the chair for 10 years and love every day of it. I specialize in lived in color, blonding, customized color & cuts, fades, hair extensions, first haircuts, as well with children with autism, sensory issues, & special needs.
I’d love to have you in my chair! Your experience in my chair is different, by assessing your hair history, goals, and lifestyle we can create a hair plan together that is customized just for you.
I don’t just want to create beautiful hair. My goal by the end of your appointment, you not only look beautiful, you feel beautiful. The whole reason I do what I do is to help encourage others, build up their confidence, and help them see how truly beautiful they are inside & out.
If you need prayer, I’ll even pray with you!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Looking back 6 years ago, I went through a fire where I lost everything, even jumping out of the window of the 2nd floor to save my life. I was homeless with nothing except the clothes on my back. My family and community showered me with love and support, I was blessed with everything I needed to move into a new home within a month. God had his hand on me and protected me. I could’ve grown cold and bitter and blamed the world instead I leaned into God. He ultimately saved me from the fire and blessed me with more than I could ever imagine.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Out of all the things I’ve tried for new clients and marketing, local Facebook groups have been the best. Free promotion on local Facebook groups. Just make sure to follow the rules of each individual group. Some don’t allow promotions, some only allow in comments on certain posts, and some only allow posts on certain days. If you don’t abide, you’ll get removed from those groups.
