Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jimmy Tang. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jimmy, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I first knew that I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally right when I graduated from college. I realized I was going down a lonely path because cultural your asian parents didn’t come all the way from the motherland for you to become an aspiring actor. True, but then I also thought, heck if you fled that communist country and be able to live in the greatest country in the world, then why not use your voice, why not break grounds and represent. So yea I moved to Los Angeles from Atlanta, and the rest is history.
Jimmy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Myself, hmm I am pretty easy to be around really, I make dad jokes when I was not even a dad. I was born in China and moved to the States when I was nine. I grew up in New Jersey, and then when to college in Atlanta, Georgia. I studied finance and management but when I graduated I decided I was going to move to Los Angeles and be an actor. I wanted to live many lives, and thought let me do something different. My parents were surprised by my decision, but nonetheless supported my journey
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I would say the bitcoin standard is a book that has impacted me significantly in terms of how money works from a macro point of view. While art is subjective, money is the objective in all underlying businesses. We use money everyday, so much of our decisions are also based on finance, yet we rarely are curious by the origin and history of money. They say money is the root of all evil but money is really product, and products always have flaws. As we evolve so is our need for a incorruptible base layer of money.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
The next wave of digitization of art, this will globalize the art market. last year 65 billion dollars were transacted in the art market, NFTs will take a significant amount of market cap by making it accessible globally
