Jimmy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Consistency. Building a successful business takes consistency. Through your ups and downs, economic adjustments, environmental changes, different business model changes – just stay consistent, the only competition is yourself. Don’t allow others or the success of others to dictate your tempo – run your own race.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a serial entrepreneur, business consultant, published author and motivational speaker. I’ve been certified in Entrepreneurship and spend the majority of my time managing my businesses. Through my various works I’ve been recognized by organizations such as U.S. Senator Ted Cruz’s Office, Harris County Precinct One Constable Alan Rosen’s Office, The State of Texas House of Representatives State Representative Sylvester Turner’s office and more. I’m the founder of J Promotions – a full-scale entertainment promotions company that hosts upscale themed events, concerts, comedy showcases and exclusive trips. We also offer event planning, artist and business promotions, and a team of brand ambassadors in the P.G.S. (Priddi Gurl Swag) girls. I founded J Promotions in 2010. And, in building it – I wanted to create something special for the serious connoisseurs of entertainment. In the twelve years that we’ve been around, we’ve hosted countless events, exclusive trips, and have collaborated with numerous high-profile and influential individuals – J Promotions is definitely a recognized brand, it’s our lifestyle.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Entrepreneurship isn’t easy – especially in terms of building a business. It’s about learning how to deal with adversity – making the necessary adjustments. It’s learning how to be flexible – catering to what the market is asking for. So you have to think in terms of, you’re always or should always be pivoting – putting yourself, your business and your brand in a position to withstand the test of time.
How did you build your audience on social media?
We work with a company called GF Marketing Group – a local marketing firm that offers marketing campaigns and business solutions specific to industry needs, we’ve worked with them for a while now. They’re a great company!! They provide both traditional and digital marketing – and have helped us to reach our target audience and achieve consumer retention. For us, It’s all about recognizing what we need as an entertainment promotions company – even though marketing and promotions is one in the same, but they’ve been able to recognize our needs and help us to orchestrate a strategic campaign, that specifically targets the entertainment industry and builds our audience as we go. We CAN say, the J Promotions brand is a recognized brand- and we’ve worked hard for it to be that way.
