We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful 𝕵𝖎𝖒𝖒𝖞 𝕵𝖆𝖒. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with 𝕵𝖎𝖒𝖒𝖞 below.
Hi 𝕵𝖎𝖒𝖒𝖞, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think what it takes to be successful is courage, determination, and a dream that YOU make true. Growing up in the party scene and looking at music festivals and people and enjoy and smile. I always wondered how I spread that love the world a little by little I can my way in Coachella and spreading the above and everything and production. I now have a part of major camps at burning man as a chef. I also host a lot of smaller events, and spreading my love has brought me, and the people who have followed me throughout the years my success. I will say be true to who you are being an honest worker spread love and good things will come your way and you will be successful. And one thing I would tell people or a younger me is don’t give up. There are some ideas that I have had written in my book that I still will make true one day, a.k.a. different, kind of parties, events, festivals, or themes that I have written down, I write down all of my cool ideas and I’m hoping one day I can make all of them come true. Also, my success comes from my dad. I have to give it to my dad (Keith helgeson) dad taught me since day one to be a hard worker too really finish what you start and for that my dad is the most inspirational person in my life and has created a foundation for me and my family my brothers and sisters that will never forgotten.
One slogan that I like to tell younger kids or people interested in what I do
“Don’t dream it, be it!!! Your shoes are your runway, honey!!! So strut”

𝕵𝖎𝖒𝖒𝖞, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well first off, I been in the production industry my whole life. Starting in club kid scene on my days off, but working in tv production as a caterer. From there I fell in love with every aspect of production whether it’s in the kitchen, bar, on stage, or creating an event. Being amongst lights, crew, music, and all that energy inspired me to take the leap to do my own events and become the producer I am today! Growing up my dad taught me to work hard and him as a construction business owner I saw that if you visualize something, you can make it yourself! So with all that knowledge and inspiration growing into “JIMMY JAM” I have created spaces and night clubs that no one has done in the LGBTQIA community and pushed boundaries! My events @cholita_club and @caballero_mens_room @barriobeatzla I created and are very successful and nights that you won’t forget!!! These are my MOST proud events I have!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Don’t bring someone to close and open your business ideas. People do back stab and will leave you SHOCKED! Lessons that I’ve learned is people that will mooch off of you and pretend that they have your back and you think you can count on these people or different business connections and next thing you know it’s a world full of sharks people try to steal people try to mimic you imitate you, but I always say often imitated never duplicated. So for that, that is a lesson that is very learned. But with that lesson being learned, it also has taught me to be strong stronger to keep my eye on the prize and to stay true to the people who really are there for you and have your back.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My reputation is me telling a story thru each of my events of a life chapters for me.
CHOLITA is glamour and telling my vision of the back in the day from car shows to flier parties. And is a lifestyle not a trend.
CABALLERO/ BELLACA is me dipping in the underground scene and bringing the whole warehouse vibe and inspo to west Hollywood at mother lode bar ever Tuesday!
And from day one, my reputation has always been clean and good. I’ve always had good street credit. I’ve always had good business credit and I always have had the connections that I scratched their back and they scratched mine. I have been my whole life in this club world, festival, world, party world, and all of that and I have just learned how to make money from it and spread the love and joy that I get from it. Also don’t be afraid to be different. I am the only queer promoter doing a whole Chicano queer style party giving you like basically different chapters of my life and I’m telling my story through my parties. Each party that I do is a different chapter in my life, and I am very, very proud of it and it took a lot. I’ve had death threats for Cholita, but at the end of the day, my pride and my ambition will never stop me from doing what I love.
