We were lucky to catch up with Jimmy Dasaint recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Jimmy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

I wrote and directed a film called NOBODY’S Son, it’s currently showing on Tubi. The story is about a gifted young boy roaming around in the mean Philly streets. It’s a very personal story because so much of it are true life experiences.

Jimmy , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

In 2000, I was arrested and convicted for the distribution of drugs and sentenced to 10 years. While incarcerated I started writing novels and became one of the first inmates to ever receive a three-book publishing deal. After getting released I begin writing and Directing films. I know have over 30 novels and 7 films. My documentary AMERICAN HUSTLER is currently playing on Amazon Prime and Tubi.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My ultimate goal I’m life is to create meaningful projects that will help inspire the black and urban community. I’m inspired by failure.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I learned that everyone is not genuine. Jealousy is everywhere and to never look past anyone. Even the devil was once an angel.
