We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jimmy Contrini a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jimmy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
It wasn’t anything too dramatic, honestly. After moving on from my role at Acquisition.com, I immediately launched my social media consulting business the next day. I updated my LinkedIn profile right away, and within the first 48 hours, four people reached out to me. And three of those conversations turned into clients on the spot. I believe they contacted me because I had real evidence that backed up my expertise—proof that I don’t just talk about what I do but that I deliver real results.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into the industry starting with my first role at Vayner. Coming out of college, my strongest skill was really my ability to connect with people. I knew I wanted to work in entertainment, talent, media, production, or sports, so I aimed at agencies that offered exposure to all of these areas. I applied for any entry-level position that would get my foot in the door, with the plan to leverage my networking and relationship-building skills to find my niche and advance.
I ended up landing an Executive Assistant role with VaynerProductions, which then led to experiences with VaynerSports, VaynerTalent, and VeeFriends. The relationships I built along the way led me to my roles at Metacurio and Acquisition.com. My time with VaynerTalent was pivotal—it’s where I discovered a real passion for social media content strategy and personal brand building. Working with high-profile personalities showed me the power of effective social media strategies for personal brands, which became a primary focus of mine.
Now, I consult for personal brands and product-based brands, specializing in areas like entrepreneurship, sports, health and fitness, and medical professionals. My goal is to help these individuals and companies amplify their social presence and achieve authentic growth. I also advise on building in-house media teams and sourcing creative and production resources.
What sets me apart is my straightforward, results-driven approach. I’m proud to have started my own business, where I can bring my authentic self to each client relationship. I prioritize honesty and effective strategies that work when effort is put in. I don’t promise instant success, but I provide a proven framework that has helped many others succeed in building strong, lasting social media presence. After all, why should your prospects or clients believe you if you can’t back it up?

How’d you meet your business partner?
My business partner and co-founder of Media Engineering, Teddy Giard, and I connected through a mutual friend, Jake Miller, the founder of Grit Services. Jake saw a strong alignment in how Teddy and I approached business and strategy, so he introduced us over email, thinking we’d hit it off. He was right.
The first person I reached out to after leaving Acquisition.com to start my own business was Teddy. I texted him right away, saying we should collaborate on something meaningful as soon as possible. From that initial message, our partnership took off, and we started building Media Engineering together. The rest, as they say, is history. Here we are today, turning that vision into a reality.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience: The Cornerstone of My Career
Since graduating from college, my career has been a continuous testament to resilience. For the first two years post-graduation, I worked in landscaping to support myself financially while taking unpaid internships to gain relevant experience. Unlike many of my peers who took the first jobs offered to them, I held out, knowing I wanted to break into a competitive field: media, entertainment, and production.
My journey began as an assistant at VaynerProductions, where I quickly learned that resilience would be essential. While many people viewed being an assistant as subordinate or even menial, I saw it as an unparalleled opportunity. I was in the room with top executives, building relationships and gaining insights that others rarely had access to. My year at VaynerProductions and subsequent year at VaynerTalent allowed me to forge connections and accumulate experience that still benefits me today.
After Vayner, I was determined to start my own business. However, I recognized that I needed further proof of my abilities to strengthen my reputation. Leveraging the connections I’d made, I secured a position at Acquisition.com, where resilience was crucial in building the media team and The Hormozi’s personal brands. My role required me to juggle diverse tasks and responsibilities, essentially running a media business without being the sole owner.
Today, as a business owner, resilience remains my daily mantra. The entrepreneurial journey demands unwavering persistence, and my experiences have prepared me well. Resilience has not only been a survival skill but a core quality that has shaped my path and continues to propel me forward.
