We recently connected with Jimi Bowman and have shared our conversation below.
Jimi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
My good friend Jeff “Skin” Wade organized a project with the Dallas Mavericks called “The Truth To Power Project” The collaboration utilizes the power of music and puts the funding directly into the hands of selected non-profits who are empowering African-American communities.
There were so many talented people involved in this project that is was such an honor to be involved with many of my peers. Being in and around the Dallas music scene since the late 80’s I have never seen anything like it. It was simply amazing. The album charted on the Billboard Top 20 complication records the week of release.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started my path to engineering in late 90’s when I was recording at studio where the engineer just didn’t care… It was apparent to me he had better things to do in his mind. I thought to myself that I needed to take on this role and provide a creative, positive and encouraging recording space for people to create.
We offer a space with access to some or the rarest instruments in world as well as knowledge and care to the process of recording. We want people to be comfortable and be able to focus on making their creative vision come to life.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Seeing someone happy with their work that I helped them bring to life. It’s a collaboration I love to be a part of and is so rewarding.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
One of the best magazines out as a studio owner or engineer is Tape-Op. It’s free and has so much valuable information and insight into people’s set up, journey and how they approach engineering. There is something in that magazine for everyone.
