Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jill Pavlov Vazquez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jill, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
My only mission in life is to make this world a better place through laughter. I may not have all the answers, and I may not be able to cure cancer or climate change, but if I can replace someone’s pain with a smile for just a moment, I like to think I’ve made a difference – and I’d love to be able to do that on a global scale, to make as many people as possible feel some joy and humor from my words. I want to write books, standup specials, even my own sitcom, all of which will tell a story about mental health while being disguised as comedy. I want people to not feel alone, and if they can find an advocate in my writing and comedy then I have done my job.

Jill, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve always loved words, as a kid I memorized all the words to my favorite songs and was always with my nose in a book. I was a theater kid from birth and even majored in it at the esteemed Muhlenberg College. After a brief stint as a radio host, I found myself transitioning to the promotions and marketing world, which is where I eventually learned about copywriting and went “perfect – that’s for me.” I worked in the corporate world as a copywriter for a travel company, crafting stories about exotic destinations from the lackluster vibes at my cubicle. May 2022 I got sick of that and quit my job and June 2022 Your Creative Concierge officially launched. I offer psychology-driven copy that is written to stand out from the crowd, in all different forms including blogs, editorials, e-newsletters, email campaigns, social media copy, speeches, website copy, branding copy, adverts, video scripts, biographies, etc.
My clients’ biggest pain points are 1) they know how to write or enjoy writing, but don’t have the time to generate all the content that’s needed for a business or 2) they have a desire to generate more interest or visibility online but don’t know where to start.
My biggest differentiator is rooted in my theatrical background. As an actress, I needed to be able to jump into any characters mind to discover their motives and desires, and I apply the same method to step into the role of the company or person I’m writing for. I also use it to put myself in the audiences shoes, to mull over what words would make me take action. I am highly creative and imaginative and I pack a lot of personality that comes out in my writing. As a comedian, I bring an extra flair for companies looking to add some humor. I like to think I make brands sparkle, and you can usually find my living my own brand and wearing something sparkly to stand out, just like I make my clients stand out in a sea of content.
I’m proud of the fact that I’ve now brought 4 people to tears in the past 6 months after they read the biographies I crafted for them. I love when a client feels I’ve accurately represented them, but with an eye that they may not have had themselves.
I am also very proud to have competed on two seasons of The Blox, an entrepreneurial reality show hosted by MTV’s Wes Bergmann.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
These days I present as this really happy, sparkly person, but if you had met me 5 years ago, you wouldn’t recognize me. I was suffering from a 17 year eating disorder as well as abusing drugs and alcohol, and essentially, I wanted to die. I didn’t see any future for myself, and I drowned my sorrows in all my vices. I was always upset that I didn’t have the career, money or love that I wanted, and it plagued me, and instead of doing anything about it, I drowned myself more. My parents finally hosted an intervention and sent me to rehab Sept 2018 and I have not looked back. Going through recovery was the first time I had ever put in real tough work in my life. It took complete faith in trusting the process and wanting something better for myself, and sitting with the uncomfortably of having to be patient. It taught me everything I know about resilience, and now, instead of being impatient thinking about all the things I don’t have, I show gratitude for what I do have. I apply my same recovery mindset to my health/fitness, business, and comedy career, and although patience is a really tough thing to master, I’m much happier putting in the work and waiting for the fruits to come.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
As a creative and comedian, I’m always looking for fun wordplay and puns, and when I first started copywriting, I thought the only goal was to be as clever as possible. However, I’ve learned it’s almost the opposite. Unless you are a Coca-Cola or a Nike, and everyone knows who you are and what you do, the last thing you want to do is confuse them. Marketing copy needs to be super straightforward so people can easily understand it. We are bombarded by so much content in a day, so if our brains have to spend more than 3 seconds deciphering something, we’re out. I’m always trying to be like Michael Scott and “explain it like I’m 5” – you want copy to be as clear as possible of what you offer. It’s a hard lesson for me to learn because it’s in my nature to try to think of something insanely catchy or unique – but you’ve got to go with what works, otherwise you lose people.
