Alright, JIll thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with talking about how you serve the underserved, because in our view this is one of the most important things the small business community does for society – by serving those who the giant corporations ignore, small business helps create a more inclusive and just world for all of us.

Sharing what I know with community outreach groups is one of my absolute passions. I’ve worked with at-risk teens, an abused women’s safe house, former gang members & organizations like Beauty Bus, Dress for Success & The Cinderella Project. You cannot imagine the joy it gives me to empower these women & men with color. Color just makes people happy. And seeing their faces light up when I drape them in different shades of fabric that take them from looking dull & washed out to bright & beautiful is truly amazing. Their smiles, hugs & echos of laughter are absolutely everything!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I’ve created a unique, innovative, simple & fun system for determining all your best shades of color for fashion & beauty. The anchor product of my color system is The Swatch Book. This is a wallet size booklet filled with pieces of fabric that I’ve curated for you based on your present hair color. You use your swatch book as a guide for shopping for all things fashion & beauty. And in addition to all the colors in your swatch book being your best shades, every shade in your book coordinates with each other, so you can create an entire wardrobe that totally rocks! I’ve also developed a line of color cosmetics for the eyes, cheeks & lips that are all in sync with the shades in your swatch book. My line also consists of one-of-a- kind silk scarves that are hand painted in your best hues & are the perfect way to add a pop of color. In addition, I color coach clients one-on-one from all over the world via my virtual color sessions. This is where we do a deep dive into everything color that they need to know to enhance their on-camera & in-person impact & presence. These one-on-one color sessions imbue the client with confidence & certainty & allows them to shine! I’ve worked with Red Carpet celebrities, Grammy winning musicians, business leaders & soccer moms & dads. I am passionate about what I do & the response I’ve received from the men & women I’ve worked with has been truly humbling.

I grew up in New York City & both of my parents worked in the heart of the fashion district. That offered me an extraordinary insight into color being the winning element that helps one make a dynamic first & lasting impression. I noticed from a very young age how important color is in relation to personal & professional confidence & success. While I was pursuing an acting career in NYC, I worked on the retail & wholesale side of the fashion industry, where I learned so much regarding different elements of style. It’s so interesting to me how my color system is truly a melding of my time in fashion along with my on-camera experience in film & television. Having worked in the field of color for over twenty five years, I’ve isolated what works & what does not work in terms of finding one’s best shades for fashion & beauty. And in sharing my simple & foolproof system worldwide, it allows everyone to look their most beautiful, vibrant & alive both in person & on every virtual platform.

I’m extremely grateful to have had my color system featured several times in InStyle Magazine, Life & Style Weekly, Health Magazine, First for Women, Backstage, Redbook, the Los Angeles Times and on major networks, numerous local news affiliates including NBC, HGTV, and Hallmark, plus myriad websites like Inc magazine, At Home in Hollywood, E! News Online, Actors Access, BeautyNewsNYC and more.

And I was beyond thrilled to be named Best Color Consultant in the Best of LA issue of Los Angeles magazine. And be called upon by Red Carpet celebrities, Grammy-winning musicians & business leaders for virtual & in-person color coaching. I’m presently featured as The Color Expert in the award-winning documentary “Gray Is the New Blonde” showing women all their best shades for fashion & beauty to rock their newly silvered locks.

Have you ever had to pivot?

The pandemic caused me to do a MAJOR pivot in my business, which I didn’t even think would be possible. Before the pandemic, EVERYTHING I did was in person: working with clients, speaking on various stages, TV appearances. Because what I do is SO visual, I never even considered doing it virtually. But I tried it & was completely amazed. I saw how well all the different shades of the fabric I use during my color coaching sessions translated on zoom. And in addition to being truly amazed by that, I saw how my zoom clients were having their own “aha “moments when they spotted their best shades. So what started as something I’d never thought possible, has proven to be a major expansion of my business. It has actually opened up the entire world for me.

I’ve learned that when you have an idea or concept that is a different take on a known & familiar concept, you need to keep sharing your truth & persist in communicating your vision, til others see it, truly get it & become your biggest fans!!
