We caught up with the brilliant muralist and insightful marketing specialist Jill Kelly a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jill, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
As a young entrepreneur, I’ve experienced many thought patterns that tell me to wait to go for something – that my journey is premature. While at the time this can be intuition speaking, I’ve found success birth in moments where I look at who I want to be, and act from there. It takes a healthy dose of intention to be successful. Knowing what I want for my life, and my business consequently, gives me a clearer vision of what actions to take. This is why I love helping other entrepreneurs see their vision for their business so we can develop clear action steps to make the vision manifest.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am the founder of Juniper Marketing, a company born of the desire to serve others through divine creativity. I have always been an avid creator and pursuer of a purposeful life. My creative enthusiasm has taken me both internationally and across the United States to create murals, leading me to also develop Murals by Jilly Juniper. I now produce large-scale works of art professionally. I am self-taught in fine and digital arts, with an early background in 2D design, painting, and drawing. My youth spent building my skills as a fine artist was coupled with growing up in the digital age. I intuitively learned digital marketing and video production and began serving clients in 2020. Juniper Marketing is a vehicle to help realize others’ business visions, through my creative skillset. I believe no matter the size or age of a business, access to authentic marketing that feels good and is effective is key.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A big pivot in my business was leaving the traditional education system. I found myself with a world of possibility that was tangible, rather than a pipe dream while I was in college. Real partnerships formed from the urgency I created by not following a traditional path toward a job. When I left traditional schooling, I committed to the life of the entrepreneur. I asked myself how I enjoyed serving others best, and it was through marketing. I began clarifying my creative skillset in design to craft marketing strategies.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being myself has made the most impact on my business. As much as the business world has called us to refine and professionalize ourselves, authenticity is the cornerstone. I see deeper connections form when I speak and act the way natural to me. I’ve experienced this on the receiving end, which gives me greater confidence. For example, my chiropractors in St. Pete (The Source St. Pete) express themselves naturally in the office. They show up in their personality, style, and expression which draws me in and makes me feel calmer and more in tune. I give that to those who I work with. I always come back to what my business heart is wanting to express, rather than the mind of societal programming.
