Jiarui, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

Initially, my aspiration was to pursue a career in psychology, as I found great satisfaction in aiding individuals in managing their negative emotions. Regrettably, due to a variety of constraints, this path became unattainable. Instead, I transitioned into the field of fashion design, where I uncovered the ability to elicit inner contentment in individuals through the medium of their outward attire. This newfound mission became my vocation.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I completed my undergraduate degree in accounting. However, a pivotal shift occurred four years ago when I embarked on a journey into the realm of fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM). Over the course of two years, I diligently honed my skills, transitioning from a novice to a point where I could proudly present my creations at New York Fashion Week.

The catalyst for this transformation was my fervent passion for street dance, which ignited a deep-seated interest in everyday attire. This passion led me to make a steadfast decision to redirect my professional path, and I committed myself to relentless effort in the pursuit of my objectives.

My design specialization centers on streetwear, a choice rooted in my original motivation for entering the field of fashion design. This niche enables me to place myself in the shoes of the consumer, comprehending their specific needs, ranging from color schemes and patterns to functionality and beyond.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

My co-founder initially discovered me as a fan within my social media community, where I regularly documented my design processes. This visibility piqued his interest, eventually culminating in our collaborative partnership. This experience underscored the importance of steadfastly pursuing one’s convictions, knowing that diligent efforts will ultimately garner recognition.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

I chose to relinquish my pursuit of an accounting career because I desired a path that wouldn’t confine me to the monotony of a repetitive daily routine for the coming decades. Becoming a fashion designer provides me with the opportunity to express my creativity to a wide range of customers, and this, indeed, represents the most gratifying aspect of my journey.
