Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jhazzy Wolf. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jhazzy, thanks for joining us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
Even though sometimes it can be tough as an independent artist I am happy . I know exactly what it’s like to have a regular job and it’s just not for me. It was like I would be stuck in a writers block whenever I was working for somebody.
A lot of my family members have always pushed me getting a 9-to-5 job and pursuing my Music on the side. I always felt like it should be the complete opposite. My music career should be my full 9-to-5 job and anything else should be on the side. But it’s not easy.
stopping your guaranteed pay to pursue an independent career is risky. But I believe In order to be successful you have to be all in. You have to treat it like it’s a 9-5 and make it your regular job.
it all starts with a dream & your own dollars. It’s not like it’s a real guaranteed paying gig from the jump. We have to put money in in order to cash money out. But when you believe in yourself none of that stuff matters. You will do absolutely anything to get where you know you will be one day.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I always knew I wanted to be an artist ever since I was a little girl. When I discovered I can record and create my own music From there I knew I had to figure out how to make this my life. When I was about 17 I left home on my own and got involved with some open Mics in San Diego. Being around other creatives is what put a spark to my flame. Flash forward a few years I started releasing my own music and learning how to turn my dream into a real business. I now host an open mic of my own in Denver, Colorado called Wolf Wednesdays. It all tied together quite beautifully. I’m still learning and trying to figure out how to be the best version of myself.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
It’s a cold world especially as an artist. We have to create something out of nothing and then we depend on the rest of the world To support it. It’s hard. Sometimes you even have to buy your support and run ads or pay to be on blogs ect. What society can do to make it easier for artists to thrive. Is continue supporting us. Even if it’s just a follow or a stream. I also think we as artist can do better about coming together and collaborating. But a lot of artist to create from a place of pain. Which is why sometimes I think society is good the way it is even if it’s cold. Because it challenges us to work harder and gives us something to write about.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative for me is being able to connect with people through my music. I love when somebody can relate to my song and it helps them get through something or inspires them. It’s just amazing how you can take a guitar and start playing it in a room full of people and everybody will come together. I love it it’s like a magic power to me
