We were lucky to catch up with Jhay C recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jhay, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Writing songs/music for tv and film for 7 years at the time, had always been a passion of mine but needed to keep challenging myself and seek bigger horizons. I am a strong believer in evolving and continuously learning and growing and so the idea of building my own label/catalogue came naturally.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Great songwriting and amazing production has always been at the forefront of my career. Wether it be for commercial or independent artists, a good song really is timeless. I’ve been fortunate enough to have gained in excess of 1K syncs and placements globally on various film, tv shows, promo’s and ads and the numbers, gratefully, continue to grow.
The difference between our label and the next is that we focus on well crafted songs that sound like ‘current records’ in the charts or on your favourite playlist. That’s what brought the success towards me personally as a composer and have now brought that mentality towards our amazing team of artists, producers, top liners and mix engineers. We’re based in Australia but our talent circle spans from LA, NY, to the U.K, Greece, Spain, Trinidad and the Philippines
Even though the music industry in general is all about quantity, we believe ‘quality’ should be first and foremost!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Endless knock backs, no return calls or emails. This is the life of any creative and pretty much has been the story of my music life. It wasn’t until I made big family sacrifices at the time moving to another city to pursue the ‘Music Dream’ that things were slowly taking place. I was invited to multiple songwriting camps from major labels and networked as hard as I could because it really came down to who I knew rather than what I knew.
The late 5am sessions, no sleep days, determination, persistence and just good old fashioned grind brought me to where I am right now. Immersed in music, running labels and helping and inspiring others. I’m not exactly where I want to be yet but I am lot closer because of my ‘hard headedness’, drive and endless passion.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I had met an amazing person in LA who I was introduced to by a peer and naturally we talked all things production music. We just clicked and he had asked me if I’d like to work on a project for his label and excitedly, I said yes and we kicked it off right then and there. Little did I know that he was the co-founder of one of the biggest Production Music/Sync labels so a great relationship spanned across 2 years of collaboration.
I came up with the idea of potentially building my own catalogue and asked if he’d like to consider a partnership. I had built enough trust and reliability through my work and so we began to focus on a plan of attack. Our new business ‘Hit Music Lab’ had been born and being the newish kids on the block, we’ve already garnered continuous multiple syncs and deals and we ain’t looking back!
