We were lucky to catch up with Jhada Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jhada thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
My interest in esthetics fell into my lap. I went to my very first lash extensions appointment and fell in love with the results. Since that day I had a thought about learning how to properly install lash extensions. After procrastinating for 2 years I took a leap of faith and asked my lash technician to teach me how to do lashes. I originally thought this would become a fun side hustle outside of my banking career. Two years in I quit my job and the rest was history.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am Jhada, the founder of Jhay Beauty Aesthetics. My company came to be when I decided to pursue a career in esthetics after realizing that my job as a banking business representative left me unhappy and unfulfilled. I left my stable career to go back to school and earn my esthetician license at the Georgia Career Institute. Always setting high standards for myself, I quickly became an expert in Lash Extensions, Brazilian Waxing, and Skincare Treatments. Determined to succeed, I took a leap of faith and started Jhay Beauty Aesthetics with nothing but the savings from my 401K. Fast forward a couple of years, and my salon has become a favorite with clients who keep coming back to let my beauty experts work their magic. As experts in the field, I teaches courses to other professionals while also continuing to educate themselves on new techniques and best practices in the fast-paced beauty industry. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smile on me clients’ faces after their service.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I was able to build trust with my audience on social media by being authentic. I display my challenges and wins on all platforms. I don’t only show things when their going according to plan, because 9 times out of 10 it never happens that way (for me). I still struggle till this day the only difference between me and other aspiring entrepreneurs is that I don’t give up when times get hard. I allow my audience to go through that process with me while being myself at all times.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I started my business with nothing but a passion for lashing. After a year I decided to go into business with a “best friend” and build a beauty empire. This relationship ended a month after signing my lease on my first salon suite. One that I couldn’t afford alone. My “best friend” packed her things and decided to leave a week after our Grand Opening. That day I decided I would figure it out alone. Struggling to pay rent, buy supplies and grow my clientele I had faith that God would guide me every step of the way. From there I moved into a smaller suite where I started to see constant growth. Then my home caught on fire in the beginning of pandemic. I was left to leave the suite and re-strategize my plan. I moved and continued working out of my home (once the restrictions were lifted). 2 years after I was able to afford to get my first commercial space and hire employees to generate more income.
