We recently connected with Jewelee Wilson and have shared our conversation below.
Jewelee, appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I wish I would’ve taken things more serious in the beginning. Music has always been my go to outlet for everything. I knew I was skilled in it , I just wish I would’ve had more knowledge about how to handle things when I first started out.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
To those who don’t know me or only know the bare minimum about me, my name is Yung Jewelz aka The Paid Hipster. I’m a vibe from Jackson, MS. I started making music at a young age, and I continued to nurture and grow with my artistry over the years. I’m not just a rapper , I’m an artist. I got into making music by first writing poems, playing instruments and just loving music overall. I started writing songs in middle school and perfected my craft over the years. What sets me apart from others is versatility, I’m not afraid to go outside of the box or my “lane”. I’m most proud of the way my career continues to move forward in the right direction, from being mentioned in Rolling Stone, to having a song on P Valley and opening up for K Camp.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Actually pay attention to the artist and understand we’re regular people too. Appreciate the entertainment as a true service and buy more merch.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me it’s the fans singing along to songs. Wanting to engage and participate in during performances.
