We recently connected with Jevon Westmoland and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jevon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
My constant thought of where my career would be had I started comedy when I was in my teenage years is something that keeps me up at night. I then begin to think about how my life experiences have shaped and molded my material now. Sure I could have started early, but what would I have talked about? Also, my maturity level in my 20s wasn’t the most solid. Arrogance would have engulfed me at the first sign of any type of success. So, in a nutshell, I started exactly when GOD saw fit for me to start.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Absolutely, I started on this journey in October 2021, taking to the stage at open mic nights with an irreverent sense of humor that quickly captured audiences’ attention. In just a few short months, my comedic prowess shone brightly, culminating in my first sold-out show at the ‘New Year New Funny Comedy Jam’ in St. Louis, Missouri in February 2022.
Since then, I have really been working hard to make waves in the comedy scene, headlining, guest-featuring, and hosting shows across state lines.I use a lot of my infectious wit and knack for connecting with audiences. This helped me to swiftly rise to prominence, earning respect and admiration as one of the most sought-after comedic talents in the United States. My comedy is a blend of sharp observations, relatable anecdotes, and a unique perspective that I hope keeps audiences roaring with laughter. Whether I’m headlining a show, adding my comedic flair to a lineup, or keeping the crowd entertained as a host, I hope that my humor is a refreshing and unforgettable experience.
I have to credit my rapid ascent in the comedy world to first GOD, and secondly, just old-fashioned hard work. My dedication, quick wit, and the ability to find humor in the everyday was where I really worked. I usually read the daily news and write 10 jokes a day from it, and release a video on my social media about current topics and news. I can always be found on my social media platforms live, and you’ll see why I believe I’ve become a rising star in the comedy world.”

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
The struggle that most non-creatives have with the journey of a creative is the thought process of said creative. Creatives view the world through a different lens. An example of this is, as a comedian, I can find the funny in almost any situation I’m faced with, good, bad or traumatic. A photographer can find the beauty in scenery and capture it in a still moment to make you connect with the image. So I really believe the struggle is trying to convey what’s going on in our head to someone that doesn’t think the way a creative does.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a comedian/creative. It is taking this raw idea, that could come from a word, vision, or moment. Taking that and transforming it into a fully flushed out joke that’s just beautiful to me. Also, the sound of laughter is rewarding. Knowing that no matter what type of day someone may be having those few moments, they get to watch me could change the whole, trajectory of their day. The power of laughter is amazing. Some studies actually believe there’s healing in laughter. So, in a way, I look at myself as being in the healing business.
