Jesús, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump right into the heart of things. Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?

My biggest challenge is dealing with a very complex market. There is a lot of competition in my field and it is very complicated to make a niche for myself, and even more so if you take into account that the client is the state itself.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I studied a double degree in Geography and History. Later I started working in a company in the sector and I had a boss who taught me a lot. I owe him the push to start. I started with nothing. I had no savings or money saved for emergencies, as I come from a very humble family. So the challenge is twofold, because I have to face investments or lack of liquidity with a very low budget. Even so, the company continues to advance and grow, and we are getting more and more projects.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

Believing that the Spanish public system helps workers. This is a mistake. The public system does not make it easier for you to set up a company, it simply helps you if you are going to be part of the system, if you are going to work as just another bureaucrat.

Have you ever had to pivot?

Three years ago. I started a company, bought an apartment and broke up with my life partner. There were many changes in a very short time and I felt that everything was unsustainable. Luckily, I managed to regain control and today, all those momentous decisions have helped me to get to where I am.
