Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jesus Moran. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jesus, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Well back in 2021, I was curious to learn about photography while we were slowly getting back to being outside due to covid. I started using my iPhone, what I learn other photographers and apply it. When I’m outside I would capture a street performer, cityscape, street art or anything that captures my eye. I would capture great photos from trips I have taken so I can share it with everyone. Once I purchased my first camera I got this sense of excitement now. Being able to take great photos then give them some creative editing that each photo tells a story. I would say ever since I started this new venture it has been exciting due to the fact I’m able to share my moments from trips or events with everyone; I also get to help people capture moments in their lives with my photos.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello everyone! My name is Jesus. I was born and raised in NYC, more specifically in the Bronx. I work as a paraprofessional at a NYC public school, and a up and coming photographer, which is what I would like to share with everyone reading this. I started Capture_Moments_Fotos (cptr_mnts_fotos for short) to share with everyone photos I have taken from trips I have taken or events that I have attended. What got me into photography started back in 2021, was interesting in learning a new skill, and when I took a trip to New Orleans with some friends; that’s where I apply everything I have learn about photography. From there I just provided my service to take photos of events whether they are birthdays, social events, cityscape, or individual portrait photos. Although many photographers may have similar work or solely based off one style of photography. I would like to think I’m diverse, I would take portraits, cityscapes, street photography. From the day I started till now, I would say that I most proud of is the satisfaction I see in client’s face when they see the final product of their photos. I feel proud and accomplish, I provided them photos that would last a lifetime and has a story behind it. This is what I want readers/future clients to know that cptr_mnts_fotos I’m helping you photograph a moment you want hold on to for as long as you can and share that with family, friends or loved ones.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
As of right now, I have my family and friends as my beginning clients. When they post on social media, I ask them to tagged my photography Instagram. I’ve been exploring other ways for my work to get more exposer.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
As of right now it hasn’t, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it if later down the line the opportunity present itself. Many small business started as a side hustle, they didn’t quit or give up. Before you know, it made successful and they are living their lives. I am optimistic that my photography will lead more opportunities to display my craft. Perhaps, have a gallery with all my best photos and share that moment with everyone that supported me and help me get there.
