We were lucky to catch up with Jessit Haizman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jessit, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
In September 2019, I was weeks away from getting married and my husband and I were both working tirelessly to pay off my student loans. My husband worked a grueling construction job 90+ hours a week, and we knew that because of how dangerous it was, we wanted him to leave this position as soon as possible. I myself was a full-time nanny for a family who I adore and was with for seven years + nights and weekends I would do freelance American Sign Language interpreting, which is what I went to school for. Not to mention, I planned the entire backyard wedding completely on my own. We were exhausted, and definitely looking forward to our honeymoon.
My husband has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and on our honeymoon we started chatting about the success of the wedding and how I did such a great job.(all of the details, the spreadsheets, the DIY’s worked out perfectly). He brought up the idea of starting a blog, where I share what I learned from planning our own wedding. At first, I thought he was completely crazy… But the more I thought about it, the more it grew on me.
In January 2020, I started a blog known as All Things Organized… like I said before it was entirely about planning my wedding… But within a week and a half (and a dozen questions I didn’t know how to answer from people who are getting married in other parts of the country, or even other parts of the world) I knew that this wasn’t the right fit for me. As much as I loved planning my own wedding, it wasn’t something I wanted to do for other people.
That’s when it hit me.
It wasn’t JUST planning the wedding that was successful, the detailed organization thrives in so many other aspects of my life- My schedule, my photo organization, even my home.
So all things organized took a turn into the cleaning and organizing space.
Now, if you remember in 2020, the world was about to be hit with a pandemic. So while I started my small little page where I shared tips on organizing your fridge, and how to store photos on Google…. I had no idea what was in store for me..
Within months, I was growing by thousands. Within six months I had 500,000 followers on TikTok. I was starting to have brands reach out to me wanting me to promote their products, All while the world was shut down, and I couldn’t leave my house.
My husband was laid off from work and received government assistance- and I spent the year as a nanny with this social media hobby that was quickly taking over my time.
Eventually, the kids I watched went back to school- and this is the moment my influencing became my full-time job. Something I will never truly wrap my head around.
Eventually, my page grew into a portrayal of my life. When I got pregnant, with my first, my content shifted from solely cleaning and organizing to “mom life” as well.
My page now is a beautiful reflection of motherhood. I share relatable videos to encourage other moms who are going through the same things as I am, I share non-toxic product recommendations. And I share our favorite products that make our life easier.
I never in a million years would’ve thought that this could be possible (if you meet me in real life, I am a huge introvert!) but I honestly couldn’t imagine it on the other way. The community of moms that I have is the greatest gift, and being able to provide for my family while working from home is unparalleled.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jessica Haizman, I’m a happily married mom of two living in the suburbs of Chicago. I have a sweet three-year-old daughter, and a goofy nine month old son. We also have an adorable four-year-old Australian Shepherd (who people often think is a mini… But she’s just a runt).
I’ve always been an incredibly organized person, and my page is an archive of tips and tricks to help you in your own life. Whether it’s a packing checklist for the whole family, a cleaning schedule that I’ve used for years, a motherhood hack, or a guide to buying nontoxic products.
Every single product that I share on my page is not only one that we love and use in our home, but is also free of harmful chemicals that are taking over our world. As moms, we have the ability to change the trajectory of large corporation and use our money to support companies who align with our values. Being a mom is hard enough, and most of us don’t have time to spend reading the backs of every single product and educating ourselves on what is safe- so I do this for you. Not only with the products that you see on my page or that are on my storefront, but also I’ve created easy to shop guides.
My page is also filled with top products for moms, babies and toddlers- products that perform the best, keep your little one entertained the longest, and will make your life easier.
Most importantly, my page is a community of other moms in the thick of it. You’ll find relatable videos that make you laugh or cry- and I take the feedback from thousands of women into account with every product I recommend.
I hope you love it and feel welcomed.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could do it all again I would focus less on ME and more on my followers. I would niche down more and stick to it rather than trying to share every diverse part of myself.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Consistency. I’ve posted every day for 3 years- consistency is rewarded!
