We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jessie & Kara. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jessie & Kara below.
Jessie & Kara, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
Creating an engaging and entertaining podcast from the ground-up presents with unique challenges. As moms in our 40s who have spent most of our lives pursuing our academic goals and establishing our careers, filming, producing, editing, and promoting a podcast has been completely new to both of us. But one thing neither of us lack is determination. We committed to learning the process, and we’ve had a blast doing it. But let’s be real… This process hasn’t been as seamless as it may seem on our social media. Time has probably been our biggest challenge because we both have such full lives that require us to be present for our clients and children. Through this process we’re learning time-management, planning ahead, and making the most of the time we do have when we’re together gathering content. We love what we’ve got going so far and hope you will too!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We wanted to create a space in which women can feel seen and understood, and we sprinkle in a lot of candid humor too- because that’s who we are off screen. We are truly our authentic selves- on and off video. What sets our podcast apart from others are the unique skill-sets we each bring to the table. Together, we’re a therapist and a business owner who are also moms and wives who understand just how tricky the balance between family, work, health, and fun can be. We are most proud of the authenticity of our podcast. We also think we’re funny. Really funny, and really relatable.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
As our listening base grows, we find positive feedback from our listeners as the most rewarding part of what we’re doing. We get countless comments about how “natural” and “funny” our dynamic together is. It probably doesn’t hurt we’ve been best-friends since age 10.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our main goal is simple. We want women to have a place they can go (or listen) to feel a sense of relatability. We want women to know they aren’t alone in womanhood, and we can meet them right where they’re at, and possibly give them a chuckle or two in the process.
