We recently connected with Jessie Agrimis and have shared our conversation below.
Jessie, appreciate you joining us today. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
NeuroLab 360 is a nonprofit neurologic rehabilitation and wellness clinic located in Encinitas. We work with individuals with various neurologic conditions such as brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis. We recently worked with a wonderful lady who suffered from a traumatic brain injury years ago. She hadn’t been able to return to any of her previous hobbies she enjoyed and one of her biggest goals was to return to sailing. We were able to work with her in therapy on a regular basis to help her achieve this goal. She recently was even able to purchase her own sail boat so that she can go as often as she wants!
Jessie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I previously worked as a neurologic physical therapist in a hospital and insurance based system. I frequently had to discharge my patients from therapy prior to them reaches their goals due to insurance restrictions. Meagan, Kristine, and I started NeuroLab 360 as a nonprofit cash based clinic so that we are not limited by insurance. We are able to provide patient centered care that is geared to each individuals goals rather than what insurance deems is medically necessary. As a nonprofit we fundraise to provide scholarships to those in need and provide many free services to the community as well such as our aphasia group, Parkinson’s Loud Crowd, and wheelchair evaluations. We are so passionate about helping our clients reach their goals and this clinic gives us the freedom to provide the best care possible!
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Being passionate about what you are doing is so important! Because we are so passionate about NeuroLab 360, we are always seeking to be better, learn more, and provide the best care we possibly can.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
I would absolutely choose the same profession and specialty. I absolutely love neurologic physical therapy and cannot imagine doing anything else!
