We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jessica Zappia . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jessica below.
Jessica , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
Where do I start? They are my biggest cheerleaders. They raised me to be independent, tenacious, competitive, and always supported my ideas and ambitions. Since I was a child they’ve always shown up and supported my sister and I at school and sports events. Having a support structure like them to help me foster ideas and creativity is priceless. They taught me to never give up and when you do something do it right! Quitting isn’t an option. Almost 5 years ago my dad presented me with the idea to turn our family land into a business and the rest is history. its truly a team effort. I’m truly blessed to such incredible business partners and parents.
Jessica , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello! I’m one of the few native Georgians born and raised in Buford. I graduated in 2007 Summa Cum Laude from Brenau University with a degree in Communications, specifically Broadcasting Journalism. After college I dove into media advertising at CBS TV station and radio advertising at Q100. In 2010 a friend approached me about an extras casting opportunity for a feature film and without hesitation I jumped right in and we soon formed a promotional background casting company, Southern Hollywood Events. I’ve done promotional extras casting for the remake of Footloose, Neighborhood Watch and earned my first movie credit in “42, The Jackie Robinson Story” to name a few. After getting married and wanting to start a family I decided to stay at home with my babies and leave the entertainment industry. Fast forward 5 years when my dad approached me with the idea of offering our family farm as a destination for photographers and at that moment I found my calling. I’ve always enjoyed capturing moments and have loved interior design. So its a dream come true now to get to design all of the backdrops we offer at the farm. I feel truly blessed to get to use my talents of design, consulting and creativity to create a unique business model with my parents. And that’s when we founded Prospect Farms, “photography heaven”. Our farm is a destination for photographers to bring their clients for photo sessions. We offer seasonal styled backdrops and natural landscapes for photo sessions at our farm in addition to elopement weddings. I’m proud to call my parents my business partners and have a haven where I get to create and play with my three greatest blessings. We pride ourselves on creating unique one of a kind backdrops for photographers in a safe friendly environment to create memories within the community that last a lifetime. I hope all of the photographers who shoot at our farm know that we are their biggest cheerleaders and love helping them grow their business.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
I’ve known them since birth! Lucky to call my business parents my parents!
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
We were the first photography venue in Gwinnett county. And the first white reclaimed window greenhouse in GA. We rely solely on social media and word of mouth! Photographers share and tag photos from our farm and then their clients and their friends and family see awesome photos and want in on the action! We’ve also been featured twice now in Suwanee Magazine and most recently our Christmas greenhouse was featured on the cover!
