We recently connected with Jessica Wood and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Typically, I am making tee shirts to commemorate a celebration or occasion – mostly birthdays and family vacations! These are so fun and I’m always so honored to be a part of a families celebration!
I recently was commissioned to create a design that we’re calling “Family Ever After” – a family using my shirts and their Walt Disney World trip to tell their foster child that they were being officially adopted! What an absolute blessing!
For the holidays, I offer wood-burned ornaments. I can take the handwriting of a loved one and engrave it on an ornament. I’ve done several hundred of these, and each one is special and memorable for me. My customers are always so thankful to have a permanent reminder of their loved ones.
Jessica , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Jessica, your friendly neighborhood crafty gal. I focus mainly on tshirts and tote bags, but also offer signs, keychains, ornaments and autograph books.
I’ve always been crafty, I love creating things out of nothing or out of scraps or trash!
During the Covid-19 quarantines, I focused on marketing my crafty skills. I was furloughed, I was anxious to put my skills (and my expensive supplies) to work. I am so thankful to every customer.
I pride myself on making custom designs, personalized products! I take pride in gathering information from my customers and making something that is uniquely them!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The overwhelming amount of pride when I finish a project and I am Happy with it- is so rewarding. On that same note however, as a perfectionist… I struggle to complete something until I am certain that it is perfect!
It has been so beneficial to have a source of income that allows me to be home with the kids and available for anything they need!
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I had realized how helpful YouTube tutorials were in the beginning. Everytime I pickup a new hobby or craft, youtube is now my go to source for guidance! As a visual learner, this helps me to see what I most do prior to doing it.
