We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jessica Winters. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jessica below.
Jessica, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
How did you learn to do what you do?
I learned the art of content creation through a combination of hands-on experience, self-study, and skills learned in previous professions. Having previously earned a Career Certificate in Graphic Design is definitely something that has helped me on my path as a content creator. Also, working previously as a real estate agent taught me many things that have led me to where I am today. I began using social media for my real estate business. Without that stepping stone, I would never have found my path and passion for content creation!
Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process?
Honestly, knowing what I know now, I would put less pressure and emphasis on speeding things up. I think learning new skills and creating your own style are things that just take some time. As long as you are working on growth, and moving forward, I personally don’t think you need to rush the process!
What skills do you think were most essential?
I think that the most essential skills have been patience, adaptability, creativity, and communication. Growing a business or skill, I find takes time, and having patience is important. Being able to adapt when things are working or aren’t working has been another important skill. Creativity for both the creation of content, as well as finding innovative ways to approach challenges. Communication is another important skill. I strive to have strong communication skills for my collaboration projects, and so that I can effectively convey stories!
What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
Balancing adult life responsibilities with the growth of a new hobby or business certainly has its obstacles- balancing time and resources is something that takes a bit of effort to work out! But I am forever, continuously, learning!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jessica Winters and I am a Co-Owner and Creative Director with Family Traveling USA LLC. In 2023, our family of 5, decided to start a family travel vlog & blog. We started our travel vlog as a hobby, to inspire ourselves to get out more often and enjoy new experiences as a family.
We have had a fantastic time exploring new destinations and meeting new people! As our journey has progressed we have shifted from hobbyists to professional content creators. We are honored to be in the YouTube partner program and have had the opportunity to collaborate with many wonderful businesses.
We create both long form and short form videos for social media, as well as blogs for our website. We share our travel experiences as we strive to explore the best family vacation destinations, dining experiences, and attractions across the USA. We hope sharing our experiences will help others find inspiration for their next trip!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our goal is to both inspire ourselves and others to get out and explore our beautiful country!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect is the ability to combine my greatest passions—being creative, traveling, and spending time with my family!
