We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jessica Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, what do you think about family businesses? Would you want your children or other family members to one day join your business?
Family Business can be extremely beneficial and rewarding if you’re intentional! I am currently building generational wealth and a legacy with my mom as we are building a million dollar real estate business together. Being on this journey with my mother has taught me the importance of communication, and always remembering our ‘Why”. There are times like with any relationship that we do not always agree, but the beauty of working so closely with her is knowing that no matter what she has my best interest at heart. Loyalty is very important, and it is something that money cannot buy. So I definitely recommend family businesses if all parties are on the same page, and willing to do the work!

Jessica, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
As a reset strategist, I am always sharing the importance of reflecting and shifting in all aspects of life. We often see people complain about what they do not like, but many people are too afraid to do anything about it. As a former educator, divorcee, and entreprenuer, I have learned the value of pivoting and shifting in order to reach the potential I see for myself. Moving out of the classroom and transitioning into full time entrepreneurship was no easy feat as I had many obstacles against me- which included my mindset, lack of finances, and ultimately being a single mom living in survival mode. I quickly realized that in order to have the freedom and flexibility I desired, I had to let go of my fears, and shift my thinking. I began to surround myself with fearless and inspiring people that helped me to shift my mindset. I began meditating, reading, and intentionally shifting everything around me including my circle.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Client retention is key to any business, and for myself, it is important that I treat each one like family. I leave a lasting impression on everyone that I work with, because it is important that they remember me as someone that brought great energy, worked hard, and executed everything I promised and more! I utilize client events, send birthday presents, check on their kids or family members, attend their events, etc. I am always staying on their mind, because word of mouth is the best referral program in my opinion.
