Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jessica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Have you ever had a gut instinct that was so strong that you couldn’t get out of bed in the morning? Although, I loved the company I worked for at the time, enjoyed the 1.5-2-hour commute by bus and Bart, and it was no secrete…I was beyond exceptional at my role. Even loving what I was doing, I woke up every morning with my gut in my throat telling me I was supposed to go bigger. I didn’t have a plan; I hadn’t thought about being a business owner or entrepreneur EVER IN LIFE so it is safe to say this life chose me.
One morning I snoozed the 4am alarm clock and made the strangest phone call I’ve ever made in my 12+ years of working a professional role, I called my HR department and reported I wouldn’t be returning to work again. That was it, I quit my corporate job the day I turned 30 and took the biggest risk of my entire life. Immediately following the rather pleasant interaction with HR, I wanted to throw up, I just knew I had a fever because, “did I really quit my dang job like that!?” Quit a bay area salary without a plan and without another job lined up. I knew I lost my mind but at that very moment I knew my passion was ignited and my life was getting ready to change.
The risk of putting all of your eggs in one basket is not one to overlook. I risked security, I risked a steady paycheck, and extensive professional development, Do you know the combination of crazy heart and downright grit you must have to believe in yourself this darn much? It is pretty scary if we’re being completely transparent and I am scared of anyone who loves this journey, talk about a beast.
To keep it all the way one hundred with you, I would do it all over again. The risk of becoming a business owner/entrepreneur has changed my life even through the learning pains, growing transformations, and the flat-out rollercoaster I’ve been on, I won’t ever look back!

Jessica, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Jessica Williams, Founder and Sr. Consultant of JMW Career Consulting. I empower professionals to SNATCH a seat at the table or BREAK it. I am notorious for shaking the table and am recognized as the resume finesser and jobsnatcher for professionals at various stages of their career. My niche is curating resumes that SNATCH attention in 7 seconds by convey the client’s power, impact, and razor-sharp skill sets. This allows my clients to snatch 4-8 interviews within 2-weeks of our collaboration. In 2022, I was successful in supporting 500+ professionals to pivot careers, identify better companies, and promote to senior level roles. In the last year, my career coaching techniques have supported my tribe of jobsnatchers to generate well-over $1M+ in salary increases, equity options, relocation fees, and professional development stipends.
I want those who have never heard about JMW Career Consulting to know that I am nothing nice when it comes to this career consulting game. I thrive off of making an impact throughout my community, making my presence felt, and ensuring that the JMWCC brand is unshakeable. Strategically, I’ve built programs for local organizations to coach women to regain their footing in the job market and SNATCH the opportunities they want.
JMWCC is in the corporate training space as well. For example, I am proudly to contribute to Chevron’s ROP program where my expertise in career coaching gets to shine. I’m able to coach professionals in interview techniques, resume building workshops, LinkedIn refreshments, and coaching in public speaking to establish undeniable confidence while connecting with anyone!
It is important to point out that I am a one woman show and my dedication to my client’s success is unmatched. I meet clients where they are and I prioritize the removal of limitations during their job search. My bread and butter is in designing job snatching blueprints that are customized per client and designed to stretch my clients for the better. I can’t fully elaborate the joy I feel when clients circle back to tell me how they transitioned from toxic work environments or renegotiated what they felt was a low-balling salary during the offer stage. It is truly indescribable!
My company has a chameleon-like approach, it was curated to identify professional’s profitable traits, diminish self-doubt, and take up space. Fortune for me, I had an extensive basketball coaching career, where I am able to challenge clients bring that energy with me to my clients, ensuring my presence is felt, and strategies are executed at the highest level.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
My practice is to check in with clients on LinkedIn and give shoutouts on my social media platforms when they hit specific milestones. This allows my clients to get the recognition they deserve for executing our strategies and succeeding without hinge. Everything is presented anonymously but my clients know which post is for them because we have unique connections.
Fostering brand loyalty consists of ensuring my hashtag #jobsnatcher #resumefinesser are included in their posts/testimonials for my company. Once a client joins the jobsnatcher tribe or six figure club due to our resume revision, career strategy session, or LinkedIn profile they are juiced to share what worked best. It scales traffic to my website and LinkedIn profile.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Being consistent is the biggest client growing method because it brings forth word-of-mouth. This is my biggest and easiest client growing strategy. YOU HAVE TO BE GREAT AT WHAT YOU DO TO GET REFERRALS! When one person gets the five-star job snatching experience they can’t wait to share the interaction with a friend or colleague, especially when they gain a significant salary increase or negotiate equity options. Trust is generated within your network, which means when one of my clients reports back to their network it ignites a follow train which has worked wonders for my company.
