Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Welch. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jessica, appreciate you joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
A couple of years ago, when I was first thinking of a business, I realized how imperfect each piece of handmade pottery really is. I like how they don’t turn out exactly the same, so that’s when Perfectly Imperfect Pottery came to mind.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a wife and mom of three. I enjoy laughing and playing games with my family. I love learning and expanding my understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been taking Hebrew classes and have enjoyed incorporating it into my pottery.
Over three years ago, I took a pottery class at a local studio and decided to keep going. I was able to attend my first vendor market one year later and have added many more since. My husband has been doing the business with me, making his own items such as mugs and funny characters. My mom and niece have also been enjoying the world of ceramics.
I love attending vendors markets and meeting so many different people from all walks of life. I have been able to see many people connect to pieces that I’ve made. I make a lot of large serving bowls and many love to use them for sourdough for their families.
I am able to keep my prices affordable and have a variety of pieces, for all families and individuals to purchase something handmade.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Going from a pottery studio, where everything is available, to making our own in our garage has been a little tricky. When first trying out our kiln, we had to work through the kinks while many pieces blew up. We have limited space but it’s our own and we couldn’t be happier

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
There is more than one way to creating pottery and you don’t have to stay with one style. I have learned to really explore all avenues I can.
