Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Treash. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jessica, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest unexpected problems I have had in this industry was busting a water pipe in my suite 2 days before opening my doors for clients. I was terrified ! My fiancé and I were putting up some shelves and some decor. It was about 7pm and We were on second to last project of the night. He started to drill through the shelf into the wall, and then all I heard was “oh shit” and water starting power streaming out of the wall. My next thought was to call the business manager. While I’m on the phone, my fiancé is holding his finger on this hole that’s wanting to spew hot water and he tells me to get the ladder in the break room, find the water system and to turn it off. I do not like ladders, so this was going to be challenging for me, but I knew what had to be done! I finally was able to turn it off And water stopped pouring out. Since I was just moving in,I had no towels on hand and no one else was here other than a barber. My fiancé runs to Home Depot really quick to grab a bucket and a mop. The business manager came by to see what was going on, and he told me to try and get it fixed by tomorrow morning for business . We were calling all around to find an emergency plumber and. I one was available for that night. The barber was leaving and I decided to ask him if he knew an emergency plumber, and sure enough he did ! He called him and he was able to head down and help me out! This is my first time doing something like this as well as starting my own business! It has been a learning curve but it’s part of being your own boss and controlling all the emergencies that will come with being an entrepreneur!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Jessica and I have been in this industry for 5 years. What I love about what I do, is that I get to pamper and care for whoever sits in my chair! I want my clients to know that they are safe in my chair, and feel confident when they leave. My goal is to help hair goals come to life and to help you with scalp care as well!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped me build my reputation was to be myself. I know how cliché that sounds but it’s true! This industry can be challenging and can be overwhelming with Building your clientele!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Most effective strategy for growing has been my referral program. But, one thing for this is that YOU HAVE TO TELL YOUR CLIENTS.
