We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jessica Tanner. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jessica below.
Jessica , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
The moment that changed the trajectory of my career was when I began the process of healing my body naturally through holistic methods. I was battling a lot of health issues including IBS, painful menstrual cycles, and constant fatigue. At the time, I thought my body was betraying me and that it was broken, but the truth was that I was betraying my own body due to my diet and lifestyle choices. I had gotten so out of tune with my body that I no longer recognized what it was trying to communicate to me. It wasn’t until I made the conscious decision to get back to the basics of healing that I began to reconnect with my body on a deeper level. I prioritized hydration, nutrition, movement, regulation, and rest. Once I prioritized these 3 things, all my chronic “symptoms” went away without the interference of any man-made medication or surgical procedure. I hadn’t done anything extraordinary. I’d gotten back to basics, back to nature, back to myself. It was through my own process of healing that I now had the knowledge to help my grandma heal her own chronic health issues a year before she passed. She was my first client and didn’t even realize it. She said to me last year, “I’m not in pain anymore. What’s going on?” It was then that I realized, my grandma like so many other women had normalized pain and suffering. I started my company, J. Tanner Health, because I don’t believe that women should be regulated to a life of pain and discomfort. We were never meant to live like this and we don’t have to.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into the Holistic Health & Wellness industry after I went through my journey of healing my own chronic health issues, specifically IBS and painful cycles. I changed my diet and lifestyle habits without relying on man-made medication. I was able to get rid of my symptoms by getting back to the basics of wellness, which are hydration, nutrition, movement, regulation, and rest. Once I prioritized these 5 elements of wellness, everything changed personally and professionally. I no longer felt trapped in my own body. I had energy to be productive in my business. I had the clarity that allowed me to create. It’s all connected. Not only do I help my clients heal their bodies naturally, I also work specifically with women in business and the corporate sector when it comes to nervous system regulation. I have a 4-week container called the 1:1 Nervous System Intensive. In this container, I work with my clients so they can stabilize their nervous system, restore their hormonal and gut balance, and rebuild the internal architecture that can actually hold what they’ve built. My clients walk away with 3-5 qualified leads per month who honor their business standards, 4-5 figure aligned buyers closed alongside a business model that matches their values, a regulated nervous system they can trust again, and a business that no longer runs on burnout.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I was going through the process of healing my body, I had no idea what I was doing at first. I was new to Holistic Healing and I was in a transitional phase where I was fully aware of the problem I had and what I had to do and sacrifice in order to self-improve. I had so many bad habits. My worst habit was my food addiction, specifically ordering from DoorDash regularly during the week, but then getting frustrated when my clothes no longer fit properly. It got to the point where I had to have an honest conversation with myself in front of the mirror and I had to tell myself, “If you want to feel comfortable and confident in your body again, you have to give up these foods. You love them, but they don’t love you.” I cried as I said that to myself. I didn’t know how long it would take me to heal my body, but I knew that I would prolong the process if I kept on eating in this manner. I stopped using food as a crutch. It was about finding healthy outlets outside of food like getting out in nature, journaling, and exercising that freed me from the shackles of emotional eating. We often think of liquor, drugs, and cigarettes as “addictions,” but food can be an addiction too.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I could go back, I would choose this same specialty every single time because it’s my calling. The reason I’m so adamant about women healing their bodies and regulating their nervous system through natural methods is because I watched my grandmother and my mother deal with debilitating illnesses due to fibroids, chronic pain, and more. I knew early on that I didn’t want this to be my reality and I began to do everything in my power to heal my reproductive health issues because I knew that if I didn’t, I’d suffer the same fate. This journey showed me how resilient and intelligent our bodies truly are. Our bodies can heal. They always had the power to heal. We were just lied to by the healthcare system and Big Pharma. We were lied to about what true healing was. We were manipulated into outsourcing our health to a system that never had our best interest at heart. It was all about profits over people. But we have the power within ourselves to heal from the inside out and I love helping women step into it.
