Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Smith . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jessica , appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Becoming a paramedical tattoo artist was an exciting and intimidating path to go down, the rewarding and life changing results achieved with clients has been incredible and makes the leap of faith worth every minute of hard work and determination it took to get my business where it is today.
Jessica , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Jessica Smith and I am the owner of Southern Rose Beauty+Brows LLC . I am a certified makeup artist and have been doing event styling and wedding artistry for over 20 years.
I am a licensed cosmetic pigmentation specialist experienced in microblading, ombre/powder brow, lip blushing, scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), PMU eyeliner and 3D areola micropigmentation tattoo application as well as a certified laser technician offering tattoo removal.
I am a longtime resident of Midlothain where I live with my husband and 5 children. I have a love of makeup artistry that has developed into a passion for the permanent makeup art industry and the life changing results her clients have achieved through out work together.
I have traveled the U.S. for special events and wedding styling as well as operated in my hometown and surrounding areas all over DFW.
I have the pleasure of working with the amazing Tru Love Salon Team where I do all of my microblading, laser removal and cosmetic pigmentation, working alongside other amazing and talented artists in the beautiful historic downtown Waxahachie.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I’ve had to learn to not give up on myself no matter how rocky the road becomes, owning a business is no easy task and there are times that things will not turn out as planned and the one at the helm is YOU! That does not make you a failure, it makes you an owner and every obstacle is an opportunity to learn and grow.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe having honestly and compassion for my clients is monumental in our journey working together. It becomes a wonderful partnership when done correctly and having a good relationship with your clients is so important to help spread your name in the industry and further your business. In small business in small towns word of mouth is KEY!
