Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Siron. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jessica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Innovation comes in all shapes, sizes and across all industries, so we’d love to hear about something you’ve done that you feel was particularly innovative.
I would say, one of the most innovative things we have done as a company, was opening as a traveling bridal shop. We had not seen it done before and wanted to find a new way of shopping for your wedding dress. Lindsay and I dreamt up the idea while shopping for our own wedding dresses and created Runaway Bridal based off of what we loved and didn’t love about our own experiences. We wanted something fun, special, and comfortable. I ordered a few wedding dresses online, had friends and family over, and had a bridal fitting in my living room! It was so much fun but my options were limited and I had little guidance without a stylist there. After that, we looked at each other and said, lets’ do this, but on a grander scale! Why not give every Denver bride the option of at home wedding dress shopping? It is such a special way to find your dress, while being surrounded by your favorite people in your very own home. Brides can make the experience everything they want it to be too. Happy hour, brunch, girls night, a small intimate gathering, we have seen it all!
Opening during Covid was its own animal all together but it really was a silver lining of an otherwise very hard time. Dress shops were closed and/or appointments were limited to only the bride during an appointment. We had the ability to bring everything a bride needed, directly to them, while they created their own covid safe space and boundaries.
Fast forward to 2023, we still offer in home appointments and have opened a completely private studio in Denver. Brides can experience the same fun, personalized, and private appointment experience, in our studio!
Jessica, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Wanting to be my own boss and an entrepreneur stems from growing up with entrepreneurial parents. I have worked for my parents small business since I could start working and I learned the ins and outs & ups and downs of owning a business. I have them to thank for that incredible experience! I also graduated from CSU with a Bachelors degree in Fashion Merchandising and I knew I wanted to stay within that realm. When Lindsay and I became friends and roommates at CSU, we knew we wanted to embark on something together. Once we went through the process of finding our own wedding dresses, it just clicked for us!
At Runaway Bridal we provide a completely private appointment experience, where the bride and her group get the entire space to themselves. We are so excited about our new studio location, located on the top floor of The Infinite Monkey Theorem in RiNo. Brides can enjoy a glass of wine from the winery while searching for their dress. We specialize in designer wedding dresses and accessories that are unique to our bridal shop. One thing we really pride ourselves on is having a unique selection of wedding dresses that brides often comment on. We try to work with small designers who create beautiful, high quality, and custom wedding dresses, that you cannot find anywhere else in Colorado.
One of the things I love the most about my job is learning all about our brides, their love stories, fiancé’s, and their wedding vision and then combining all of those elements to help them find a dress that uniquely reflects them and their big day. When a bride starts to find styles she loves and ultimately finds the one, it is such a special experience that I am so lucky to be a part of! I would say our private appointment experience sets us apart from others. When there is only one bride in our studio at a time, we can solely focus on them and making their experience as special as it should be.
I am so proud to have created Runaway Bridal with my best friend from the ground up. Our in-home business meetings and late night hang outs have turned into something so incredible. I could not have dreamt we would be here just a few years down the road! It helps that we are on the same page 98% of the time and basically share the same brain! We want our future brides to know that we are so passionate about what we do and want to create a fun and memorable experience, while helping our brides feel confident and beautiful.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I recently became a mom to a beautiful boy! I absolutely love everything about being his mom. I wasn’t quite prepared for how hard it can be to juggle being a parent and being a business owner. I have never wanted to be in two places at once more than I have now! I am not sure if I necessarily needed to pivot but I am continuing to learn how to better manage myself and my time. It helps having such a supportive business partner, who has been there for me when I needed a little (a lot) of help!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Word of mouth has been so important for us! The idea of a traveling bridal shop was brand new and we knew it would take some time to gather reviews and and get the word out. Our brides have always been so sweet and are always referring us! I also think we provide a really special experience for every bride, that they are excited to tell more people about.
