Hi Jessica, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

It was always my dream to become a baker. That was the answer I gave at my kindergarten graduation when asked what I want to be when I grow up. Although that was a dream of mine, I actually unintentionally started my baking business. In 2020, I made a cake for my grandmother and posted it to my social media accounts just because I liked the outcome. The request of orders started coming in almost instantly.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I am Jessica, wife, mother of two and owner of Sweets Galore by Jess. I specialize in custom cakes but I also offer a variety of other sweets such as specialty cookies, cupcakes, and chocolate dipped treats. My favorite part of being in this business is providing my customers with a custom dessert that makes any occasion in their life that much more special. At Sweets Galore, I pride myself in providing my customers with beautiful, fresh, tasty sweets.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

The most effective way in growing my clientele has been referrals. I have been in business for 3 years and while slow at times, my orders have always been consistent. I provide my customers with great products and in return they refer all of their family and friends to my business. Word of mouth has played a huge role in the growing of my customers over the years. I have so many loyal customers and I am so thankful to them for supporting me along the way.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

Consistency. After 3 years in business, my social media accounts have just recently began to gain lots of followers and interactions thanks to a video of mine that went viral on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok totaling 26 million views and counting. There are days when I barely receive any likes or comments on my posts but I always stay consistent in posting because you never know when that one post can catch the attention of millions of people on social media.
