Alright, Jessica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s one of the most important lessons you learned in school?

I worked at the best salon in nyc with all the best hairdressers from around the world. I went thru a 4 year training program, which required you to bring in 4 models a week, 3 cuts and one blowdry. You had to go on the streets of New York and find your models.

Being a hairdresser requires you to be outgoing and talk. This training taught you how to be a stylist and I’m so grateful for it

My name is Jessica Ruby and I did hair in nyc for 20 years before moving to la.Flamingoloungehair was created in Manhattan and flourished into la organically. I’ve always had an alternative clientele, you attract what you are, like attracts like.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

Education. In order to have experience to be able to do all types of clients you must go thru an intensive training program. All the best stylists have.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

You will not please everyone and that’s ok
