We recently connected with Jessica Ramos and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
The most successful people are people who aren’t afraid of hard work. They set goals and work hard to achieve them. If there’s a problem they fix it. They aren’t afraid of making mistakes because they know mistakes are opportunities to learn and improve. They realize that success doesn’t happen alone and appreciate and recognize those that have helped them get to where they are. A successful Person knows when to ask for help. A successful person is constantly growing and learning in their field and building their network.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hi there! I am Jessica. I am a part time blogger, a part time content creator and a full time mommy. If you pay a visit to any of my online channels you’ll see that my content is focused on fashion, my family and my faith. I am a devoted Christian, Wife, and mother to two little boys. Those are my full time gigs and I wouldn’t change that for the world. Blogging and creating content has really always been a part of my life in some form or fashion. Even before social media was a thing I was taking pictures for fun, making funny videos and writing in my journals. I have always enjoyed being creative, so once social media came around it was only natural for me to use that as an outlet for my creativity. It really just started off as me being me and then I realized at some point that I could make money doing this. I think that probably happens to a lot of people who have a love or a passion for something. I am also such a social person that working with other people and brands is something I really enjoy. I think the thing that I am most proud of is that while things are always changing I have stayed true to who I am and the content that I put out. That’s not to say that I’m not learning, growing, and getting better but I just know who I am and who I want to be and no amount of likes or followers will change that. I really hope that my accounts can be a source of joy for others. Whether that be through styling tips, Godly encouragement, spots to checkout in San Diego or the places I visit. I hope that people leave my page feeling encouraged.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Before I had kids my blog was on WordPress and I wasn’t paying for it. I did a lot of research and learned that if I really wanted to make this a business one day that it was crucial I own my own website. I was pregnant at the time and so I decided I would start my blog and be a mommy blogger. I figured that being home a lot that I would have all this time to write blog posts. Then my son made his arrival and I realized two things. One was that I knew nothing about being a mom and two, that I had absolutely no free time at all. I wrote what I could and when I could. I finally realized that as much as I loved my son and being a mom, I really didn’t have a passion for writing about it. So I shifted gears and I decided to be a lifestyle blogger so that I can share all different parts of my life. Whether that be as a mom, as a Christ follower or my love for fashion and clothes.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Struggles are a sign of sign of weakness.
I think instinctively a lot of us are hesitant about being vulnerable with other people at the risk of being judged. But don’t we all struggle with something?
I’ve had to unlearn this and realize that struggles aren’t a sign of weakness but a sign of strength when we can learn from them. There is also strength in numbers. You don’t have to struggle alone. There is always someone that has been there. I know that as a first time mom I felt like I had no idea what I was doing and everyone else did. I later found out that wasn’t true. Sharing our struggles can help to be an encouragement to others. You never know who needs to hear your testimony.
