We were lucky to catch up with Jessica Quencer recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Jes Rose Design was born out of the belief that beauty matters, and that the combination of beauty and connection create some of life’s most meaningful moments. I believe that wedding stationery is an individually wrapped gift to each and every person you love. To mail a beautiful, thoughtfully designed invitation is to create a moment of connection and delight for your loved ones. A moment of joy and belonging.
I believe our lives are made meaningful by big things- like how you love your family, your belief system and how you treat other people but I also believe that our lives are made meaningful and magical by small, everyday moments -like opening up the mailbox to find a beautiful card from someone you love. Books that feel like a breath of fresh air and wine under string lights. A hug from someone who makes you feel safe.
Jes Rose Design believes that these moments of beauty matter. That connection matters. That paying attention to delight in the midst of everyday moments, makes a difference. Jes Rose Design believes that creating moments of connection and delight – joy and belonging, is one of the most meaningful things we can do, and feel so honored to spend our days dedicated to this.

Jessica, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Jes Rose Design specializes in Luxury Wedding Stationery that captures a couple’s wedding aesthetic through thoughtful details and the highest quality materials, with a client-focused ordering process. We offer Semi Custom and Fully Custom invitation suites, Day-Of Stationery (like menus and place cards) and stationery sets (like personalized note cards and thank you cards).
The first invitation suite I made was for my own wedding. I letterpress printed each piece on a borrowed letterpress, troubleshooting as I went. I fell in love with the process – mixing the ink, using the press, designing all the little details that make the invitation suite personal.
I love stationery design because it is a perfect blend of digital— (design work and initial ideas) and physical (creating with my hands, mixing ink and prepping paper) It is an honor and a gift to be trusted with the one piece of a wedding that every single guest, whether they are able to attend the wedding or not, will interact with.
I recently invested in a Chandler and Price Pilot Letterpress. It weighs 200+ lbs and was made in the late 1800s! If you are unfamiliar with letterpress – think old newspaper shops, printing with ink and individual metal letters, before digital printing was available. Now, letterpress is a popular, luxury print method because of the individual care and effort each piece of stationery takes to create, and because of the deep impression it creates on the paper. If you run your finger over a letterpress print, you will be able to feel the indentation of each letter. It feels special to embed such a cool piece of history into my couple’s wedding stationery.
The letterpress was a big investment for me, both financially and time wise. The press had been sitting unused for many years and desperately needed to be restored before it was able to print. Restoring the letterpress required me to step way outside of my comfort zone – deep into Reddit threads about antique machinery, industrial strength rust removers, and conversations with specialty metal workers to replace missing parts. . I will never forget my first print after all of the restoration was complete – it proudly hangs in my studio!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I began intentionally working directly with event planners a few years ago. This was an incredibly beneficial change for my business because it allowed me to build long term relationships and create repeat clients. I now have a network of people in my industry that are able to refer me to their clients, and for other events.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is watching projects move from ideas into a physical form. I love seeing all of the moving parts come together at the end of a project to create something new and special. There is something so exciting about holding the finished project in my hands – knowing that each part was carefully handcrafted and thoughtfully designed, alongside the couple’s I work with.
