Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Phillips. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jessica, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Jessica, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe my work ethic, my personality, and word of mouth is what helped to build my reputation in this market. A lot of people are shy when it comes to taking pictures with a photographer, but they are absolutely fine with selfies. Nothing is wrong with that, but that’s why I also try my best to make you as comfortable as I can when it’s time for your session. I speak with you before the session to make sure we’re on the same page with the vision, I try to learn your personality as well so when the session comes I have an idea or a few ideas to try to get you to loosen up. It can be with music, conversation, or even just a few silly poses to get you to loosen up. I’ve been told before by many clients that I’ve made them feel comfortable and that’s very important because it’ll show in the pictures if you weren’t comfortable. Also, word of mouth is very important because people have certain people whose opinion they trust. Then the word of mouth turn into referrals which sometimes turn into clients. It all works hand in hand.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I’m a photographer and I love taking pictures! I love to create and capture all things; I used to be called paparazzi because of the off-guard pictures I would capture – people would be surprised and enjoyed what I captured. That is what’s most rewarding to me. Being able to see my art touch someone else as well as enjoy it for a lifetime brings me joy. If I’m able to bring a little happiness to someone’s life that’s what I want to be able to always achieve, and I feel I can do so by capturing memories.
