We were lucky to catch up with Jessica Ordaz recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Jessica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?

After being born and raised in Omaha, NE for 24 years, my fiancé and I moved to Wichita, KS. As we settled into our jobs, we both new that we wanted to start a business together. I had always wanted to be in the beauty industry but financially I had never been in a place where I could afford it. My fiancé and I had a serious conversation that ultimately led me to enroll into Esthetician School at Eric Fisher Academy. This was the start to our business idea, our wellness clinic. After having worked since I was 16, this would be the first time that I would have no income. Excited yet frightened for the future I started my new adventure in becoming an esthetician in May of 2022. My fiancé worked 2 jobs to ensure that I could fully dedicate myself to this program. While at his job he met a coworker that had the same dreams and aspiration we did. We thought that instead of being competitors it would be best if we partner up and decided to partner with Melissa Barton. After 7 long months, of studying and training I completed my 1,000 hours. We started planning for the opening of Empowering Wellness in late November and officially opened our clinic on February 1st, 2023.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

At Empowering Wellness we strive to provide the best care possible for our patients. We offer a variety of treatments including aesthetic services, hormone replacement therapy, peptide therapy and weight loss. We offer the best quality of treatments and medications to meet our patients needs. Every medication and treatment that we offer, we have done ourselves.

Juan Carlos Rivas, APRN-NP and Melissa Barton, APRN-NP specialize in hormone replacement therapy, weight loss and peptides. They continually take courses to stay up to date on treatment to ensure that their patients receive the most effective evidence based care possible. In addition to those treatments we also have the AeroLase NeoElite Laser, which offers a variety of treatments. The NeoElite allows us to provide treatment on various skin conditions on all skin types and fitzpatrick. Some of our most common treatments are acne, acne revision, skin rejuvenation, rosacea and laser hair removal.

Jessica Ordaz is our Medical Esthetician who specializes in skincare. She offers a variety of treatments for all skin types. Some of those treatments include facials, chemical peels and hydrofacials. Jessica will help you get started on a skincare regimen that will treat your skin conditions/concerns.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?

Yes, I would absolutely choose the same profession. It is an amazing feeling knowing that we are changing lives helping our patients boost their confidence. Building relationships with our patients comes as a second nature.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

We provide patient-centered healthcare. We are compassionate listeners and do everything in our power to help our patients reach their goals while being honest.
