We were lucky to catch up with Jessica Nieto Gomez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Probably you would think that my job is just about customizing hats. However, behind every hat there’s a story. From a hat with burned mountains that represents the landscapes in Mexico, to a distressed look with dry flowers to bring the countryside with a stylish look.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
Since I was a child I always knew that I wanted to design clothes or accessories. I was influenced by my mom. She owned a shoe store and I was always watching her designing and selling her products. YeeHaTx started when I was eager to express myself and I was going trough hard changes in my life. Designing hats was my therapy and still is. I put my heart in every single hat, from receiving the order, trying to place my customers style and needs to packaging their final product. Step by step is made with a lot of love.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding moment is when customers express how much they love their YeeHaTx. When they share pictures on their social media or write a nice feedback. I’m happy when I make others feel beautiful with something I made.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I would like to thank first my husband who host “BandwagonTV” where he interviews country singer-songwriters. He has been promoting my business on his episodes and he’s one of my biggest cheerleaders. Also my family, who has been always there for me. And finally, a friend of mine here in my little Texas town, Debra. She owns a store in Lampasas, Texas (The Other Place) and since the first day I approached her about selling my hats at her store, she supported me all the way. I have good people around me, I’m lucky to have all of them in my life.
