We recently connected with Jessica Morrobel and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
One of the biggest (and scariest) risks I’ve ever taken was walking away from my corporate job to become a full-time content creator. At the time, I had what many would consider a “dream” career, including stabilityand the kind of title you’re supposed to be proud of. But deep down, I felt disconnected. I was spending my evenings filming tutorials and my weekends editing videos, dreaming of a more creative and purpose-filled life. Quitting that job felt like jumping without a parachute, but I knew I couldn’t ignore the pull any longer. There was no blueprint, no guaranteed income, just a whole lot of hope and late-night editing sessions. Fast-forward to now: I’ve partnered with brands I used to admire from afar, spoken on panels about the creator economy, and built a platform that celebrates beauty, identity, and boldness. It’s still a rollercoaster at times, but I’ve never once regretted betting on myself.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Jessica Morrobel, a fromer corporate marketer turned full-time creator, speaker, and founder of Traveling with Jessica, a brand that blends beauty, travel, and storytelling to empower people to embrace their full selves.
My career actually began in front of the camera. I studied broadcast journalism and worked in corporate America, but in those spaces, I sometimes felt like I had to shrink parts of myself. My curls were pulled back, my culture stayed quiet. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, I was filming beauty tutorials, editing travel vlogs, and connecting with people online who were navigating identity, confidence, and style just like me.
Eventually, I took the leap: leaving corporate to pursue content creation full time. And that decision changed everything. Now, I create across YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok, sharing curly hair tutorials, travel guides, creative campaigns, and speaking on panels about the creator economy, representation, and building a business as a multi-hyphenate.
I’ve partnered with brands like Disney, Pinterest, Sephora, and Virgin Voyages, but what I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built: one that feels seen, inspired, and empowered. At the heart of my brand is this belief: You don’t have to choose between beauty and ambition. Between creativity and structure. Between self-expression and professionalism. I’ve built a career where all of that can coexist, and I help others do the same.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Coming from a corporate background, I felt immense pressure to be polished at all times. I thought if I made even one mistake, showed emotion, or strayed from the “script,” I’d be seen as less capable or less worthy. That mindset followed me into entrepreneurship, where I was over-editing content, second-guessing every move, and burning out trying to do it all “perfectly.”
But the truth? My audience connected most when I was honest, messy, and real. Whether it’s sharing my curly hair on a humid day or opening up about a career pivot, those are the moments people resonate with, and trust is built.
Now, I remind myself that being professional doesn’t mean being flawless. It means being prepared, being present, and being authentic. That shift has not only made me stronger a creator, it’s made my life more sustainable.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Whether it’s a curly-haired girl finally learning how to love her texture, or a first-gen creator realizing they don’t have to follow a traditional path, I live for those moments of connection. Creating isn’t just about visuals or aesthetics for me. It’s about storytelling, identity, and helping people feel seen and celebrated in spaces they were once told to shrink. There’s something SO powerful about turning your lived experience into art that empowers others. That’s the beauty of being a creative, and that’s what keeps me going.
