We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jessica Mcmahan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jessica below.
Hi Jessica, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I have always had a passion for all things beauty and skincare. However, things changed after my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had to have lymph nodes removed, which created this desire within my family to learn about what kinds of products were harmful or that she could no longer have/consume. This was a huge eye opener for me, and really ignited my passion for beauty and skincare. It turned my passion into a desire to not only learn, but to find a way to try and make a difference.
I started studying ingredients, properties of different butters and oils, and benefits. I started experimenting with different blends and combinations; on a mission to create luxurious products that my mom could use not only during her chemotherapy treatments, but long after we beat this!
That’s how Jessica Lynne Creations was born. After creating these unique recipes and formulas for bath and body products that helped heal my mom’s skin during her treatments, I realized that I didn’t want to stop there! My passion turned into a labor of love, my labor of love turned into a dream, and my dream turned into a business.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Jessica Lynne Creations provides luxury, handcrafted skincare and bath & body products that are all made completely from scratch in small batches. I spent years developing and meticulously perfecting my formulas before officially going into business in February 2021.
I truly love what I do. It’s not just a business or an income for me. I truly believe in my brand and what it stands for, and I strive to leave a mark on the clean beauty world. Jessica Lynne Creations isn’t just a brand, but rather a lifestyle that embodies empowerment and beauty.
My products are packed with natural butters and oils, combined in luxurious formulas to offer healing and hydration; you’ll be glowing from head to toe! I use a small-batch process so each unique creation is a labor of love. This means you are always getting fresh and potent skincare products sourced only from premium ingredients.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think the best thing I did (and continue to do) to build my reputation within my market community is just show up. Be consistent. I always make sure to put my joy before any bad days or frustrating markets.
I like to think that I help spread that joy to everyone who comes into my presence.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
I hand craft each and every product sold, completely from scratch, It took me a long time to perfect my unique formulas and, in that time, there was a ton of trial and error. So many botched batches of bath bombs, menthol explosions in the microwave (that one took days to clean up), greasy liquidy lotions. Even learning how to ship these products safely so customers don’t end up with melted body butters and soft bath bombs in these hot GA summers!
I wish I could say that, after 4 years of being in business, I’ve figured it all out! BUT… that would be a lie. There are still days when things go wrong – messed up batches, supplies I need that are out of stock, shipping issues, miscalculated inventory.
Luckily, along the way I’ve discovered software and programs that help me track inventory of both completed products and manufacturing materials. And, I’ve learned to not let the bad days, where everything seems to go wrong with production, get the best of me. Learning to laugh at yourself sometimes is a MUST, especially if your business is a handmade product business!
