We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jessica Lorello. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jessica below.
Hi Jessica, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The story of how Lifetime of Love Nannies – Charlotte came to be is one of those moments where timing, and community all aligned.
It started when I hosted Carson, the founder of Lifetime of Love Nannies, on my Mom Means Business podcast. I was instantly blown away by her — a 25-year-old with grit, heart, and a vision to redefine childcare. She wasn’t just building a business; she was creating a service rooted in passion. I remember hanging up from that interview thinking, Charlotte needs this. As a mom myself, I knew firsthand that families here were craving reliable, high-quality childcare — care that felt personal and truly supportive.
So, I reached back out to Carson and asked if she’d consider bringing Lifetime of Love Nannies to Charlotte. To my surprise, she said yes! I told her I couldn’t do it alone and I wanted to bring in my friend Melanie, a career nanny who has an incredible gift with kids. Carson agreed, even though she had barely just met me and never met Melanie.
The very next day, Melanie and I were at our neighborhood pool with our kids when I looked at her and said, “Hey, if I started a nanny company, would you run it?” She laughed and said, “Yeah, sure.” She had no clue how serious I was at the time. The next day, I set up a meeting for her to meet Carson. Melanie immediately saw the vision, and asked to become a co-owner. My answer? Absolutely!
Less than three months later, we, Melanie and I, officially launched LOLN–Charlotte with a team of nannies and five families. Ten weeks in, we’re already profitable — but even more importantly, we’re building something meaningful. Families trust us with their children, our nannies feel valued and supported, and our community continues to spread the word about the care and connection we provide.
What makes this venture so special is that it was born out of genuine belief — in people, and in doing something that makes life easier for families. We love what we do, we love our team, and we love that Carson believed in us enough to bring this brand to Charlotte.
It’s more than childcare — it’s a lifetime of love in action.
Jessica, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Jessica Lorello, co-owner of Lifetime of Love Nannies – Charlotte (LOLN-CLT). My career has always centered around people — understanding them, supporting them, and helping them grow. Before launching LOLN-CLT, and currently, I’ve been working in Human Resources, specializing in Employee Relations and Learning & Development, where I learned the importance of communication, trust, and building meaningful relationships. Those same values are now the foundation of our nanny service.
My journey into this industry began somewhat unexpectedly — through a conversation on my Mom Means Business podcast with Carson, the founder of Lifetime of Love Nannies. I was inspired by her drive and passionate approach to childcare. As a mom myself, I knew how deeply families in Charlotte were struggling to find trustworthy, consistent, and reliable childcare. The idea of bringing that level of support and professionalism to local families felt like a calling — not just a business opportunity.
At LOLN-CLT, we provide nanny and childcare services that meet families where they are — full-time and part-time care, newborn overnight support, event care, special needs care, and even companion care. Our nannies are employees first, not gig workers, which means they’re supported, accountable, and able to provide consistent, high-quality care. Families know that every caregiver has been thoroughly vetted and trained, and that they have a dedicated team behind them to make the process seamless and stress-free.
What truly sets us apart is our people-first approach. We care deeply about both our families and our nannies — we’re not just filling shifts, we’re building relationships that feel like an extension of family.
I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built so quickly — within just a few months, LOLN-CLT has grown through word of mouth, referrals, and community connection. Families tell us they finally feel peace of mind knowing they have a reliable support system, and that’s exactly why we do what we do.
At the heart of it all, I want people to know that Lifetime of Love Nannies – Charlotte is built on professionalism, and genuine care.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
At Lifetime of Love Nannies – Charlotte, we believe that managing a team and maintaining high morale starts with communication, connection, and purpose. Our nannies are the core of what we do, so we make it a priority to ensure they feel supported and valued.
We utilize group text communication to stay connected daily — it allows for quick check-ins and encouragement. We also host monthly team meetings where we share updates, celebrate wins, and provide ongoing training or support.
Childcare can be incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with challenges. When a nanny encounters a tough situation — whether it’s navigating a behavioral moment or helping a child through big emotions — we step in to help problem solve and reassure them. They know they’re never alone.
We’ve worked hard to build a culture of team support and shared purpose. Every nanny on our team has a deep love for children and a strong commitment to keeping them safe. When we nurture that connection and remind them why their work matters, morale naturally stays high.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One story that stands out most in our journey happened just weeks before launching Lifetime of Love Nannies – Charlotte. We were building the business from the ground up in Charlotte — creating processes, recruiting our first nannies, and connecting with families — all while balancing our own families and full-time commitments. There were moments when it felt like too much, when the hurdles of launching a new business from scratch — the long nights, unexpected setbacks, and self-doubt — could have easily derailed us.
But instead of giving up, we leaned into our purpose. We reminded ourselves why we were doing this — to help families find trustworthy care and to give nannies a supportive, professional home. We focused on one step at a time, encouraged each other through every challenge, and led with the same empathy we bring to our work.
Just ten weeks after launching, we were profitable and thriving — not because it was easy, but because we refused to lose sight of our mission. That experience taught me that resilience isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about staying grounded in your “why,” pushing forward and trusting that the hard work will pay off.
