We were lucky to catch up with Jessica La Forge recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jessica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
God Save the Cream, is blazing a new trails in the high end frozen dessert field. We hand craft our artisan ice cream in small batches, using the only the finest of ingredients. We prefer to make our own extracts, jams, cookies, and cakes rather then buying them from a large box store.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
What does a 16-year-old pastry chef at the world-renowned Broadmoor Hotel do for an encore? She creates a handmade frozen dessert with a fearless combination of juxtaposed ingredients that are rebelliously rich and righteously royal. I started my career in desserts at 16 in the kitchens of the Broadmoor Hotel, baking bread, and cakes at 4 am. I graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and worked at some of the best restaurants in the US. In 2014, I decided it was time to bring back the craft of the cream and become an entrepreneur. God Save The Cream was born. Now, I’m is known for taking taste buds on an ice-screaming adventure.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The most recent pivot God Save the Cream has taken is selling on ecommerce sites. Home delivery platforms has expanded our reach in the Denver market. Prior to establishing ourselves on these sites we sold our products exclusively direct from business to business, now with a click of a button God Save the Cream is more accessible to the home consumer.. We really have concentrated on delivering a fun filled ice cream adventure in every bite we churn. As such, we have chosen to remain smaller than our competitors in order to fulfill that goal. Now, we are instituting some machinery upgrades that will allow us to retain our high standard of product production while increasing our overall output.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
God Save the Cream is now available on Pinemelon, Door Dash, Grub Hub, and Uber Eats in a limited Denver Metro area. This online storefront has made our goods readily accessible to the clients that choose to enjoy a treat on their own couch while streaming a favorite show. We are looking to increase the territory for our loyal consumers and first time customers in the very near future.
