We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jessica Kishpaugh a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the best advice you ever gave to a client? How did they benefit / what was the result? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
Give yourself grace and take imperfect action in the process of change. In the world of emotional eating/binge eating or other unwanted eating behaviors, most clients have a perfectionist “all or nothing” mentality with food. When we can forgive ourself in the process, look at the hidden wisdom behind the eating behavior, and embrace imperfection, we can make significant positive habit changes that benefit our physical and mental health over time
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I am a former attorney who transitioned out of law to pursue my passion in health and wellness. I was in a transformational time in my life working on my own physical and mental well-being, furthering my education in nutrition, and realizing my legal career was no longer fulfulling me. I felt burned out and dissatisfied and took a leap of faith to become a Health Coach and start my own business.
I am pivoting again recently from 100% virtual clients to more community and collaboration with companies and schools. I’ve been teaching various wellness topics in classes, workshops and presentations to companies, organizations and schools and absolutely love it.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
Perhaps. My legal career was exciting and enjoyable for a while, until I reached the point of burnout. But it also was beneficial in that it gave me a ton of important skills that I utilize as a coach. Some transferable skills such as critical thinking skills, public speaking, analytical skills, organizational skills, interviewing, active listening, and writing have been critical in my business and as a health practitioner. So, the long answer is I am not sure!
