We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jessica Keeny. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jessica below.
Jessica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is to help women who have been through deep loss, burnout, or life-altering change transform their grief and chaos into the grit and clarity they need to build a bold new life.
This mission is deeply personal. I lost my husband to ALS, and within 10 months also said goodbye to my father and stepfather, all while feeling restless at work and becoming an empty nester. This time could have broken me, but instead it became my catalyst. I began to examine the stories I was telling myself and started to ask the hard questions about what I want my life to look like. I also started training for endurance races and found that movement and doing hard things, both physical and emotional, are what propel us forward. I realized that feelings are not baggage to be buried; they are fuel when we know how to channel them.
That is why this work is so important to me. I know firsthand that even in the times that stretch us to our limits, when grief is raw, burnout is heavy, or we cannot see what comes next, there is a way to use our feelings as fuel. I am living proof that when life changes in ways you never, ever would have imagined, it’s not the end of your story. It can be the starting line for a life you never thought was possible.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a transformational life coach who helps women navigate life after deep loss or life-altering change. My path into this work was not a straight line. I built a successful career, but over time I started to feel restless. Then life unraveled. Within ten months, I lost my husband, dad, and stepfather within months, and soon after became an empty nester. It shook me to my core. I wanted to figure everything out and return to a sense of normalcy, but unexpectedly, it became the catalyst for deep-reflection and ultimately everything I do today.
I found healing in movement through running, triathlons, and yoga. Physical progress mirrored emotional progress. When I worked with a life coach myself, I discovered that grief and transition can be invitations to explore possibilities we never imagined if we are willing to let ourselves go there. That realization changed my life and led me to train at Georgetown as a certified health and wellness coach. Today, I have built a practice that blends lived experience with evidence-based tools.
Through one-on-one coaching, group coaching, and journaling workshops, I help women treat their feelings as fuel rather than baggage. Many of my clients come to me when they feel stuck, spinning in indecision, doubting themselves, or searching for permission to change the way they’ve always done things. Together, we create purposeful steps that move them toward clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of possibility.
What sets me apart is the blend of emotional grit and compassionate guidance I bring to this work. I know firsthand that change is not about quick fixes or hustle culture. It comes from sustainable action and from learning to honor both strength and stillness. Change is constant, and when we learn to get comfortable with it, we discover the growth it makes possible.
What I am most proud of is not only my own reinvention but also the transformations I have witnessed in the women I coach. Watching a woman move from hopelessness to hope, from confusion to confidence, from questioning her worth to rediscovering their power, gives me chills every time.
If there is one thing I want people to know about my brand, it is this: the hardest moments in life, the times you think you may break, do not have to be the end of your story. They can be the starting line for a life bigger and bolder than you ever imagined.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that my best days were behind me after life dramatically changed. The stories we tell ourselves can keep us stuck, and mine was rooted in fear. Fear of the unknown.
I came to realize that just because life would be different didn’t mean it would be better or worse. It simply meant it would be different. More importantly, I’ve discovered the power of choosing how we view the past. My experiences are part of me, but they don’t define me. They can be fuel.
That shift allowed me to see my hardest season not as an ending, but as the starting line for a life I never imagined was possible.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been sharing my story through my blog and essays on Medium. When I launched my coaching practice, I never expected that writing about my own experiences would resonate so deeply with others. Sharing my story lets me be authentic while demonstrating the perspective and guidance I bring to clients.
This experience has also reinforced an important lesson about being a solopreneur. Stay open to possibilities, follow what feels right, and trust that unexpected opportunities may turn out to be the most meaningful.
